Today is the 8th day in a row of working 16 hours a day to get everyone's power back on from the wind storm last week (most of MI, gusts close to 70mph). Tired as hell, this beer tastes better than it ever has, and it's my regular beer. My wife said no more orchids for now, even with the Ann Arbor Orchid Festival coming up this weekend which we will be going with our kids. Then this big storm hit, lots of OT. She laughed tonight when I asked about "no more orchids". So I find myself plotting where all my new orchids will be going when I bring them home Saturday

Would love to find some cattleyas and zygopetalums. I currently have 1 of each. Just bought my 1st cat on clearance at a local nursery, bought the young zygo last year (yet to bloom). Will definitely post pics of my newbies!

First, let me say that when my power goes off the last people I think about are those out busting it to restore everything. (Jobs like yours make me really happy I'm a librarian.) I promise that next time I have to spend a few hours without my computer or lights I'll think of you. Thanks!

You obviously deserve those new orchids you've plotted! I'm sitting here thinking about the OT - and a wee bit jealous, too! Enjoy the Festival, and I'm looking forward to seeing who you bring home.

Bob I hope you get some time off soon. Indeed show us your new orchids when you get them. Surely your wife will cave.

Bob, sharp or mild?

Cheddarbob14, you definitely deserve that beer, and you deserve an enjoyable trip to the AAOS show on Saturday. I'll be there on Sunday. Can't say whether I'll come home with any new ones or not, but I'm looking forward to seeing pics of yours!

And I'm assuming you know the Michigan Orchid Society Show is the following weekend?

My dad worked for an electric company. I remember those days....

Have fun at the shows! I hope you find some great orchids to bring home (and that the rest of your family gets hooked, too!).
