ES, thanks for the info but noooooooo. I'm pretty handy but no longer a contortionist (and might piss off the landlord should word get out).

I have 3 more tuberettes and they weren't that precious.

You know that voice that tells you to take precautions (like plugging the drain), listen to it!

I'm screaming in my head! It's not even my favorite but was probably my most precious.

Your orchids need to take out a protective order against you.

How the hell did these things ever survive in the wild?

They evolved before things that think they're pretty and worth bringing into the house evolved.

Well I guess we have all dropped pots and broke spikes. I've done a few, probably my worst sin was trying to take a yellowing leaf off my paph seedling. Instead of letting it get dry I just had to have it off NOW. So I pulled and pulled out the crown. Don't ask me how, but the two newest leaves came out. It is growing new ones finally. I didn't kill it surprisingly.

Shannon, you give me hope!

I lean toward science more than the other stuff. So, when I didn't toss that appendiculata crown (it's the crown and a leaf-basically the plant minus old leaf axils and roots) and put it on a pad of sphag, on top of tree fern, soaked in kelpmax, I was taking a leap. Since I didn't know where/if there were any meristem tissue, if I could give it a decent enough environment...Took little effort on my part, lets see what happens. In a few days, it will rot or not.
