Totally understand such swings, Cody... keep your head up! But man they put such a hamper on things, don't they?

Not sure where the pressure came from to get a year project started, but absolutely no pressure... orchids are for pleasure!

Cody, hope you are doing better.

I bowed out because I am really busy right now and the project became tedious and complicated. I had trouble finding vendors (we need to make certain that there are enough orchids for everyone) for each orchid (beyond Ecuagenera) for Europe, US and Canada as well as good growing information. For some of these orchids, good growing information is just not readily available. As for the vendors, some of these orchids were not in large enough amounts for everyone to participate so I tried to find other vendors so that there would be enough. It became rather time-consuming and futile.

I did hope to have a project and I was willing to lead it but I was expecting suggestions for plants that would be readily available and reasonably easy to grow in most conditions. There are many very small orchids that are easy to grow and widely available. (This is what I mostly collect!) I just do not have the time to hunt down enough of a supply for some of these suggested orchids. :|

Since we've come so far it will be a shame to give up.

I think a good way to proceed is to choose a winner genus and let each one grow what they want inside that genus.

Just a sugestion.

I agree it would be a shame to stop the project. I'm down to continue in any way we deem fit. I would be on with keeping one of these species as you suggested. It also seems we lack a project leader who could really take charge and search out availability etc. I would volunteer but work and family are really draining my free time right now :/

Why not narrow the ballot down to the top 4 already chosen with 6 votes+ and re-submitting the poll?

So I just thought I would give this one more bump and see if anyone was still interested in proceeding. I stilll think a project would be fun!

In the last attempt for this project I voted for Laelia anceps and, despite the fact the project din't started, I bought one anyway.

I just got a L. anceps too!

I voted for either rupicolous laelies or Dryadella simula... I now have the D. simula and... I dunno, six or seven Laelia species? I have a bad habit of jumping in head first...

Well I just ordered a laelia Dayana and laelia milleri today. Would you all think it would be reasonable just to call it the spring project and let whoever wants to join just go ahead and join?

So like, not have a specific species for the project? Does that mean we can just choose any of these? Because I need an Epidendrum centropetalum and I can't do that AND get a different project plant.
