I think we all should vote first for a genus. Specie by specie, hybrid by hybrid is difficult...everyone has its own preferences.

You're absolutely right. I think we need to go ahead and narrow down selections, then select a finalist and get started!

Along those lines, by the way, I'm going to withdraw my suggestion of a mini-Phalaenopsis species. I'm already growing several of them and no doubt will add others with or without a project! I would prefer to try something I wouldn't likely otherwise select, which I think is more the point of the Project anyway!

I don't have too much free time at the moment but can help with looking up some sources once we settle on a genus and come up with some firm ideas.

Has anyone tracked suggestions? Are we going to look first at narrowing to a genus? How is the selection to be made?

If I could, I would do more to keep this all moving. My time, though, is kind of a mess right now due to some personal circumstances. However, if a plant is selected that is one I can work into my growing setups then I plan to be a very active and eager participant.

Ok, so here is a preliminary poll I made. Once we narrow things down, it'll be much easier to move forwards. Multiple votes are possible and encouraged. Choose all plants you'd be willing to try out.

I saw the poll before I saw this thread, and didn't scroll down to realize it's multiple choice. I would have voted for more than one plant had I known that.

I mean, you could always post your other votes as a comment. That's a pretty simple way to have them still be counted.

I might want to play. My Phal only for a year restriction is no longer in play, and even though I'm a beginner, I could always kill another genera.

I noticed that there were a few other suggestions that do not appear on your poll. I don't know if they should be added.
Dryadella simala
Stelis
Coelogyne cristata

The Dryadella would be under the Pleurothallid grouping, and I think most of us agreed that Coelogyne cristata was too large and rambling.
