To go totally off-topic: night blooming cereus
Here is the night blooming cereus that grows along the lava-rock wall at the back of my yard. The flowers are huge!

This is my Rlc. Waianae Leopard 'Ching Hua' It bloomed this summer. Some of you may have seen the pics when I posted it, but I love the bright colours and spots.

Charles I've never tried a neo/vanda, yours is beautiful. Maybe I should give one a try, I always love seeing them in bloom.

I don't recall the cereus being fragrant. You have to get up in the middle of the night to see them in all their glory. I always forget. These pics were early morning and they were already closing. Only bloom one night.

That pine tree is cool. Orchids are fun, will you eventually plant it outside or does it stay small?

per the internet you control the size by underpotting and cutting down on fertilizer. It gets to 5ft.
I've tried a gardenia but that attracted ( and kept ) mealybugs. I hope this is bug free.

They don't bloom as babies. They also get huge. Mine was 3' across in a 10" clay pot before my husband inadvertently killed it. I had it several years before it bloomed and I think a slight! winter chill does them good. Now I have these orchid cactus which are wintering dryish at 40 degrees.
