Sounds like a good concert to attend! When I was in college, I often accompanied a friend who would get free tickets to concerts. It was all very enjoyable but I think my favorite was Itzhak Perlman. Now, the only time I get to hear good 'classical' music is digitally or if my spouse is in the mood to play piano or violin.
Sunday was spent entertaining guests.
I had bought some Cattleyas not long ago and, about a month ago, got around to potting them up in red lava rock. I am pretty happy to see all the new roots they are sending forth. I love new roots! The free Dendrobium from my Orchid Society's holiday meeting is also getting new roots but it will be a while before it will be stable enough to free from the wire and stakes. I took a close look in my twenty gallon tank and I realized that since those Bulbophyllum went in there, they have gotten quite a bit larger than they were when I moved them in there. Now, if I could just get some blooms...or, maybe it is better if I do not. :|

What ruined Opera for me was a brilliant friend of mine who insisted on Wagner (apologies if I spelled that wrong). I also liked classical music and good jazz and I adored George Winston...would he play those...no. He would mix the music to catch me off guard and all this screeching ( apologies again) would come on and he would just laugh and laugh. He was also known for his intellectualism, he loved to debate. He also liked to slip in a risque movie when you weren't expecting it, just for fun. We finally quit our couples friendship with them and I remained friends with her ( a super sweet person). When you say Opera, those are the memories it evokes...I have unashamedly digressed.

Wow. Do you guys have a weekend thread or something? I would like to speak to Johns beginning post about (probably) being 'taken' by someone he trusted, and to the mouse in the house bit.
Last month I had hired the son of a friend to do some work on my house. My friend, his mom, has been my closest friend for over 35 years. She and I raised our children together in a way. I was a single mom with one in diapers, (my deceased daughter) and my oldest one just being potty trained.(She's now a trainer of pharmaceutical reps on the cape) Any way, her son, this young man I hired grew up with both my daughters, and has been close to a member of my family all along. That said, I had paid him for several jobs, and then decided to go ahead and pay him ahead for some other jobs. I haven't heard from him since. His mother told me he'd gone to jail for several months, and was willing to complete the work once he's out. I have to say I was really surprised, and really disappointed in him. And upset about the money. I pretty live hand to mouth, and have only me to up keep this house, so I know how it feels to be taken advantage of like that...
And although it wasn't this past Sunday, it WAS on a sunday

When he gets out of jail, he might appear and make it good. I hope so, anyway. It is always a relief when people show themselves to be much better than our worst fears of what they might be.

Opera. I would probably never actually attend an opera or watch one but some of the music is quite good. I am not a Wagner fan and, except for the wedding march, I have not listened to any of his music more than once. You can't really easily avoid the wedding march.
Screeching...where did he get recordings of screeching? That would be annoying.

I guess screeching was a poor choice of words. Let's just say the singing was well...loud and high pitched.
And you're right, you can't avoid the wedding March. When Doug was working on his CAD degree he did a project from the movie Apocalypse Now. He used the Flight of the Valkyrie as his theme. I must have heard it a hundred times. I now hate Wagner.

Not much for me. Headed into work in an hour or so and I'm hoping for an evening overnight shift. Got up, fed my dogs, Watered plants, and that's about as exciting as it gets. When I do 16 hour shifts my dogs are fine, as I have a large dog door cut into my back door, they go in and out out onto the deck and into the yard whenever they need it or feel like it. They have an automatic waterer, and they're all set. They miss me and are super excited when I get home but they're getting used to a sometimes irregular schedule.
