First of all, thank all of you who served so we could have a peaceful Memorial day!
John, I am so glad you got a play day with friends! You deserve to have some fun. We cooked out with Bob across the street ( whose sweet mother died a few months ago). I killed a couple of kitty litter jugs at target practice ( I want a smaller gun).
My sun loving orchids went out yesterday and I made them a "cabana" out of a patio umbrella and a sheet. This will let them get used to the brighter light gradually. The more tender babies are staying inside with my new light.
My Epi radicans is spiking, Onc. Twinkle has two new spikes and everyone else is growing well. I'm pondering the terrestial orchid ES suggested. Wow.
This morning my mother in law passed from this life, and Friday the Chief has his heart procedure. Life is a mist, given to us to be enjoyed and not endured, make the most of it.

My thoughts are with John's friend and Carol's family.
Life is to be enjoyed, too. Wednesday went to the high school graduation of a fine young man. He was homeless from ages 12-17. He now lives in a Christian group foster home. He earned a 4-year scholarship!
This weekend have been removing everything from my carport, cleaning, and putting it back. Woke up early this morning to work on that, then went to a pool party celebrating the young man's graduation. About 15 foster kids were there, ages 3-17, behaving in an exceptionally raucous manner. There was a lot of diving, splashing, super soaker activity to the face and throwing people into the pool. There were also food and chocolate cake.

Carol, I'm dearly sorry for your loss. You and Doug have been, and will remain, in my prayers.

I used to tell my ladies: "life is bittersweet but, bittersweet chips make the best cookies."
Thank you both.

Carol, please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother-in-law. The loss of a loved one is so difficult. You and your family will be in my thoughts.
I'm also sending all my best to your husband (I hope that's who the Chief is!) with his procedure this Friday. I'm sure having you by his side will be the best medicine during his recovery.

I know I’m resurrecting an old thread, but happy orchid Sunday to all. I am in the process of designing/setting up my second orchid area to focus on mounted orchids. Hope you all area well!

I actually was thinking about this thread myself. I always enjoyed hearing what others were doing.
I closed up my greenhouse due to the expense of propane. We hauled all my summer bulbs and a few prized plants to a friend's greenhouse. He refused payment, so I let him propagate whatever he wanted from my stuff. (This means I can get my truck detailed).
Then the Chief dug out another few feet of flowerbed and liberated some Black Beauty lilies and daylilies from our huge Maple's root system.
Now he's smoking a pork shoulder and we'll relax a bit. The Indiana weather has been beautiful for the last week but, the bottom falls out Tuesday night!
I wanted to order a few orchids (darned ES) but, it may be too cold. I have a few things spiking, as are all my phals so, I'll have something pretty to look at!
Life is different without Jack and Nathan is getting very spoiled. Dollythehun is even nicer without him.
Would love to hear about your (hopefully) ordinary lives. 😉
