Orchid Saturday
I already waited too long and got away with it... time to bring everything tender inside for the winter. Earliest frost ever at my place was November 20 a few years back. Some years I get no frost.
I haven't emptied the sunroom, cleaned and rearranged in about 3 years. It needs to be done early spring or late fall, so the plants don't burn sitting outside while I clean the room. I want to rearrange shelves to accommodate the growing orchid collection. So, that's what I did Friday, today, and will do Sunday and Monday. I take everything outside and hope for good weather.
It's been very dry for a week, with warm days and nights. I've been racing a Pacific storm headed our way:
National Weather Service
My Adenium, Operculicarya and some Euphorbia can't tolerate being cool and wet, even briefly. I took everything outside yesterday and today. I just finished bringing the last of the really tender stuff in. I don't mind if the cacti and other succulents get soaked tomorrow before I bring them in.
I met an old friend for drinks last night. He is a professional by day, and still working as a DJ after hours. Younger people throw large, spontaneous dance parties out in the desert here. I was greatly helped in my efforts today by some of his music mixes.

I remember using John & Yoko's
"clean up time" for some motivation in this very same area a while ago.

Ok. I'm tired from reading that. When it's 10:00 pm in Indiana, it's 10:00 pm in Indiana. 😉😄😆😅 Goodnight.

Sounds like a pleasant weekend to me... organizing growing areas just keeps the whole experience of growing fresh... while we don't nearly have the same pronounced seasons as elsewhere we have enough of em here to keep growers here on our toes...
Been dropping down to mid 40's here, so for me it was about time to take the warmer growers in for winter. They had to be fit in on the two main windows inside with the most light. The main area is a table which is pretty much half covered in plants... the other half is for the very gracious SO... technically a work desk LOL
The other window is a narrow tallish window now staged with a rather large hoya (the excellent hawaiian purple form) whose frame will hold some mounties as well as the window frame itself. remember almost all of mine are minies here... My phal lindenii has been spiking and not blasting or anything in the 40 degree whether, supposedly one of the coolest growers, but decided to take it inside to the window... just didn't want to risk the bud loss, on other hand hoping the sudden warmer temps inside won't be a cause for blasting nonetheless...
Nice mix, it's somehow retro and very progressive, sounds like an exciting friend... I could go for drinks myself on this cool misty night (actually rained today).
With la nina, we could get a hard frost here at some point this winter, on other hand the "experts" are saying la nina will not be so pronounced in SoCal this time around... course not much rain on the forecast, la nina o no...

Listened to some of the preview tracks and they got me swaying! My son always enjoyed techno and back in the day when I was into stepping as exercise,he'd burn cds of this music genre for me.Still have some that now I need to play.Don't need an excuse to throw a party but makes chores easier to get done.TY.
