We only cyber shop on Black Friday. Computers don't mind working and, in this busy world, time with family is so very precious.
My kids often end up working the holidays as no one else wants to do it.

I'm not really against buying on Black Friday, it's just that Black Friday seems to come earlier and earlier every year. This year it started at 7PM on Thursday. Jeese!!!!

My wife goes to the two malls around our apartment building and takes advantage, but I hate it all. I think it should be illegal to force minimum wage workers to go to work late Thursday night. Forcing them to work until the next morning. Thanksgiving isn't even a holiday anymore, not when people are working that night. The greed these stores have know no bounds. At least wait until 6AM the next day! How can you go away and reunite with family if you are expected to work that same night. My father was told to go to work or lose his job for Thanksgiving. Doing what, you ask, selling pretzels at the rest stop by his area of I-95. They could not come visit and we could not afford the plane tickets to go to them. I mean, who needs pretzels on thanksgiving??? Can we please just go back to the days when the only people working on these very important holidays were the Police, Fire Dept, etc....Sorry, just blowing off some steam.
Well, I for one, stayed home and slept off my turkey.

Around here, we are seeing a return to closing on Thanksgiving day and opening later or not at all. But, I think most of us agree with you. Greed is what drives the economy.
On a lighter note, Tindo, I saw a Piliated Woodpecker on our large maple snag Thursday morning. What a treat! I thought of you immediately.

Just like Christmas around here. Shops have trees and Santa's pictures since beginning of Nov.
Something tells me one day Christmas will be celebrated in August.

They start putting out the Christmas stuff in US stores in September or October. The Christmas music on telephone hold usually starts the Friday after Thanksgiving. They haven't played the dogs barking Jingle Bells on the radio in some years. That's the only one I really like.

Here it is.
Thanks, wintergirl and Tindomul, for showing me how to post videos without having the thread window expand to fill the entire screen after the post.

Well, that is fantastic. At least one place is going in the right direction.
Also, I wish I could see Pileated WP's enough times to get a photo. On up side I have been treated to a Red Headed Woodpecker in my patch of woods. It's stayed around for about a month now! NYC is not in this bird's range, but since I started birding, they went from unheard of in NYC to a regular but rare occurrence.
