First you need to know what sucks to know what's good.

Orchid Saturday
Well, John started the Sunday thread, so I'm going to re-post it early. You all can whine with me, or laugh at me but, don't chastise me because I know I am very blessed; I just want you to know what having fun can cost you.
My Attorney and I were to go to an Orchid show in South Bend today. Late last night, she texted me to tell me her dog Dali, a 17 year old Wheaton Terrier died. So I thought I would go to the show alone and meet Wintergirl. It was a beautiful drive, the trees are changing and only a moderate amount to road construction. My GPS took me to the wrong place. The vendors admired my list but, didn't have what was on it.(This means of course, the bumper on my truck won't get fixed soon). Wintergirl didn't get my text until I was on the way out of the parking lot. On the way home I got 16 texts from a client (Facebook family drama). I got home and repotted my new finds (not on the list) and got some LECA in the kitchen drain. I also water the orchids in the sink so, I'm was sure there was some fine bark in there.
I put the orchids in "jail," and started dinner. Doug put the cyclone rake on the Toro and did the front yard. All is well...the drive belt broke on the tractor and now it and the rake are sitting in the back 40. The kitchen sink backed up and now my kitchen is full of black goo and the 1st trip to Lowe's (which thankfully is close). It has been plunged (1 piece of LECA, tiny), snaked, taken apart rooted (and I heard the air compressor running). I am hiding in the office doing paperwork.
Let this be a lesson in fun! We decided we are not pretty enough to got to Sandals, or on a cruise (we watch those commercials too ) so we chose our fun closer to home. We may have to stay housebound now. And, to top it off I had to text my Pastor and tell him we wouldn't be in church because of a plumbing crisis. I, YI, YI! Please laugh, all, I am trying to do that!
Now as to my purchases:
2 Oncidium babies: Twinkle "Red Fire" and "Hula Halar "Volcano Queen"
1 Bllra Pacific Pastel "Mauna Loa"
1 Odtna "Papa Gino 'Lavender Lady'"
and 2 Den Phals: "Burana Glow" and "Chao Praya Sweet"
I am too tired to have any more fun. Enjoy your Sunday 'ya all. I think I'll weed my cactus, can't get in much trouble there.

FYI - idiots like us who take plants to the sink need to replace our metal under-sink pipes with plastic. Much easier to get off every few months for a U-trap cleanout. I can do it with my hands, so I don't need a wrench. It's a low pressure system so the pipes don't have to be fastened down with high torque to prevent leaks. I've done it with my bathroom sinks and am going to rebuild the kitchen sink when I get a round tuit.
In fact, I'm going to clean out my bathroom U-trap after I finish watering the orchids today. I dropped a few Coccothrinax eckmanii seeds in there while cleaning them.

I just took a swig from my coffee mug while reading here and took a very large moth into my mouth.
Yes, I spit it out. No, I'm not going to finish the coffee in the mug.

Guavas are very easy from seed if you plant them at the hottest time of year, and keep the sprouting pot hot and very wet. Full sun on a black pot is fine. They grow fast.
What is a night blooming jasmine?

Well, the problem is not my bark siftings. It originated in the last pipe out of the house, behind the washer and dryer in the basement, along the floor...now has a hole in it. 2nd trip to Lowe's. Doesn't that moth taste better now?

Where I live, you cannot find the guava fruit. The only way to eat them is to grow them. I grew Strawberry guava in the past but this time, I bought a Ruby Supreme as I have been wanting it. I look forward to the fragrant flowers and the fruit.
The 'Night Blooming Jasmine' is the common name of Cestrum nocturnum, a plant not at all related to jasmines. I had that one a long time ago and decided to grow it again.
Dollythehun, I am sorry your weekend did not turn out as well as you had hoped. :|
estación seca, sorry about the moth experience. That is never pleasant.
