...a "surprise assortment" of plants?

As you may know, I'm clearing out the contents of my greenhouse. When it makes sense, I've assembling "packages" of a few plants that sell as a unit, at greatly discounted prices.

I'm getting to the point that it's hard to do that, so I'm thinking of assembling "mystery packages" that might have a half-dozen plants at REALLY discounted prices - but you won't know what's in it until you get it.

Thoughts?

Sounds really fun! Of course, my ability to get one of these mystery packages would depend on the prices.

I'd do it, I mean, for the fun of it! How much!

I like the pictures of all the stuff you have on your website. Was hoping to see another spathoglottis. Oh well. Mine's still alive but the cat seems to love it and keeps eating it and knocking it over. I wonder if spathoglottis is a cat drug like catnip?

Surprise packages are always fun imho; it's sort of like the raffle table at the local OS, you never really know what you are taking home with you, but the experience you can gain is invaluable.
Just my $0.02,
Adam

Thanks for the feedback, folks.

Lately, I've been cutting my plant prices considerably. A $75 stelis specimen went for $35, a huge oncidium similar to one I saw at the SEPOS show for $50 sold for $20, and paphs that retail anywhere from $25-$40 have been going for $15. There have been a few "packages" of three of those same paphs for $30, and I have a package of three "shady and wet" growers (Bulbo echinolabium, Phal chibae & Phal honghensis - both phals in spike) available now for $30.

It seems to me that a "pig in a poke" deal will need to be less per plant.

Today is fully booked, but I'll see if I can put a few together Sunday or Monday.

I recently bought 6 of your plants I did not already have, not in a package tho. I picked from the 10 single offered plants you had available at the time. As a newbie to orchids it was a 'surprise package' to me since my other orchids were all Phals. I have lusted after a few of your packages. Your prices were a great find for me on the orchids I bought. I found your site through browsing the threads one night after I joined here and seeing your signature link.

I read up as much as I could before deciding which ones I wanted. I then chose by the flowers in the photos. Probably not the best way to choose orchids when first starting out. And I'm sure a true newbie move.

I am very very pleased with all 6 of my orchid kids from you. So far all seem to enjoy living here and I am determined to keep them alive & prospering. AND get them to bloom again when it is time for them to do so. The Odontocidium Sucubus 'Dragon Dreck' that came to me in spike is happily progressing with her buds.

Plus I am very intrigued with your semi hydroponic system & plan to incorporate it into my collection as I progress in experience. I have read all your info from your site and a few threads from your forum as well to familiarize myself on this kind of care.

I'm in EU so I won't buy any of them, unfortunately.
But I would like to make a sugestion: giving people the opportunity to choose the plants suitable to their conditions, i.e., I would ask an assortment for hot and dry, or cold and wet, or...you get the idea.
Probably you've thought about it already.

I just released a "semi-surprise" package:

Three mature, flowering-sized species in the cattleya alliance. Two potted, one mounted.

When I had these listed individually as NBS plants, they totaled $75. Now $25.

Hey! I'd like the Paphiopedilum and a mistery package! Are the Paphiopedilum still at 3 for 30?
