Default "Monkey orchid. seeds"

I was browsing eBay and came across this advert for "Monkey Orchid seeds". Most likely not to be orchid seeds. However, what struck me was they had sold 680 of them that's almost £2000 or over $3000. If my suspicions are correct then this is such a poor state of affairs from eBay for not policing these traders. I wonder how much has been made from counterfeit goods. Rant over !

Raising orchids from seed almost always requires a laboratory environment. Even if these are really Dracula seed, and really are viable, most people buying them will never see a plant.

I know that people are tempted by the thought of growing a desirable orchid on the cheap, but the real thing can be had in plant form quite reasonably if one looks around. I paid a little over $20 shipped for a D. anthracina that arrived in spike. I think it has one of the best monkey faces in the genus, especially among those that might grow in warmer conditions. Even if the seeds are real, the time and effort make it no bargain.
