Classified Ad Orchid Exchange

Hello Orchid enthusiasts.

Wanted to let everyone know that I have been approached by several SoCal growers to help them sell orchids online. After a couple months of development and collaboration, we are launching orchidexchange.org

We are opening registration and limiting it to 10 new vendors at the moment, for a trial run. We will expand it as we work out the kinks.

Hope everyone likes the concept.

On behalf of the Orchid Exchange, thanks.

I looked at the site this afternoon and I have to say there is far too little information offered about the plants listed. There is nothing to indicate what you are getting if you press the buy button - no indication of pot size, is it a seedling, how old is it, is it shipped in pot or bare root? Nothing.
I won't buy from a merchant that doesn't offer the bare minimum information when describing the item for sale.

Thanks for looking and your feedback. We are in the early stages of launching the site, so our vendors have not had much time to put in all the information. It is something we are striving to improve and create a robust description for all products.

Hope you give us a look again in the future.

I realize this is still new so I have questions, observations and suggestions:

It's pretty cumbersome at the moment. Will you eventually be arranging the offerings by genera/vendors?

Adding FAQ for customers (shipping methods, payment methods, return policy, etc.)?

Vendor profiles?
Vendor announcements?

I really like the concept of multiple vendors in one location. Good luck!

Great concept; good luck. This would be a great way for individuals with smaller numbers of plants to do business.

No information on shipping is available right now. It seems the site should have a method for each vendor to display all their business information like shipping costs, etc. And each listing should have a button to the appropriate vendor's shipping information.

All these suggestions were super helpful. We have been busy beginning a FAQ as AnonYMouse suggest as well as category's and vendor profiles.

Next we have tackled the shipping to allow each vendor their choice of shipping type and costs, thanks estación seca for that suggestion.

Next phase is beatification of each page, they are all functional, just not to our standard yet though.

I want to thank everyone for the feedback and suggestions so far, they have been extremely helpful.

I just performed a test: I put an item into my shopping cart and then continued browsing for other items. At that point I could NOT find the shopping cart, and after an exhaustive search, I can see no evidence that there IS a shopping cart! Explain?

Tried sever ways to explain it, but keep getting blocked on this site. Not sure why.

Cart is in the menu.

Sorry to be simple, my longer explanation would not go through sadly.

Until I went back and reloaded the site 30 seconds ago, "Cart" was not in the top navigation menu.
