Tom Mirenda (Smithsonian) speaking at the Michigan Orchid Society
Tom Mirenda from the Smithsonian will be speaking to the Michigan Orchid Society on October 18 at 2:30. Tom’s presentation will be “Orchid Hunting in Central America”.
The meeting location is:
Birmingham First Baptist Church,*300 Willits St. in Birmingham, Michigan.* Parking is free in the lot next to the building and we enter thru the back entrance.
This event is free to the public and should be a fantastic presentation.

I definitely will not miss it!. I was in charge of programs last year and had the privilege of booking him to speak. He was fantastic in our email correspondence. I would have loved to have been able to host Tom and take him out for the day, but my youngest is 4 months, so I wouldn't have been able to give him a proper tour of the area. Luckily a member of the society is going to take him to several orchid related places the Saturday before his talk.

He'll be speaking to the Desert Valley Orchid Society in Scottsdale, Arizona, at our March meeting. It's not on our Web site yet but it's in our newsletter. We meet the 3rd Thursday of each month. March in Scottsdale is a lot nicer than March in the Bay Area, especially if you get an El Niño winter.
