Is this going to be an AOS judged show? If so, the color groupings are very specific in how they need to be set up.

Hi,
From the links you posted I like #3 the best. From your photos on Flicker I like the one you say you are going with. Now, with that said, remember that when using props, "less is best". The subject here is orchids, also the use of more ferns or green plants in the rear with some height to them would help. I'd keep the statue and the tree to the left, bring in a small, low, white object to the far right. It should be another fairy or cupid... By the way, the orchids are awesome!! JMHO. Al |
Hi Peter,
I like the layout of #3, esp. the left side with the grapewood. If you have another piece about the same size put it where the greenhouse is and only have the statue in the middle/left being the focal point. The higher wood on each end would be natural looking and draw you the whats going on in the middle and front. I do jewelery displays and usually have the middle start as the pyramid and work down on each side and forward. Once you get your moss in there it will change the look. Hope this helps. Less is More. Nice collection. Lorraine |
I like #2 the best of the 3, but I would vote to move the yellow also.
Nice display! |
I like the #1 option without the cherub. The manner in which the plants are arranged is visually better than the other options. Remember the dominant feature of any orchid exhibit should be the plants, not the props. With the wood and the ferns that is plenty of background visual affect. I would consider losing the greenhouse also... If you keep it, then the ferns belong inside, not the plants. You are just hiding the plants inside the prop.

Thanks all for the great comments. I'm not sure what i'll end up with, but i will post pictures of the finished display.
I set up tomorrow and the show opens on Friday, then closes on Sunday. Thanks! Peter. |
Good luck!
