Talking Trip to Marlow's Orchids

I've been wanting to get a Psychopsis Mendenhall since the very first time I saw a picture of one on here and even though I've been trying to be good about adding any more chids to the collection I just couldn't resist any longer. I'm fortunate enough to live only about 20 minutes from Marlow's (luckily I'm mostly agoraphobic and only leave the house a handful of times a year or I'd be in BIG trouble lol). I stalk his website and finally contacted him because I'd reached the limit of my self control Unbelievably he remembered me from when I had reached out to him concerning my project plant, the Amesiella Monticola, although I ended up ordering and receiving a beautiful one from Ray because leaving the house at that time just wasn't gonna happen... I made an appointment for today at 10, put my big girl undies on and headed over (I did make it to his open house this year and got 3 gorgeous plants but WOW was it packed so I basically grabbed the first 3 that caught my eye and high tailed it outta there lol). DEFINITELY worth leaving the house for! He was so kind and patient and generous with his time and advice! He had a gorgeous Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' FCC/AOS in bloom for me. I've also been wanting to get another Den (I have a noid den-phal and have been wanting to try my hand with more Dens...) and he showed me the loveliest little Den lawesii and assured me that it's a fairly good one for beginners and I was sold! Not only did I get 2 beautiful new additions but also an extremely pleasant experience. Two thumbs up!!!

Default Trip to Marlow's Orchids

I read this earlier today, had a break from working outside in the garden.

And I was smiling, I could really feel your sence of joy- and it made me look at the flowers outside and smile.

I'm so happy you managed to get out of the house, not easy if you struggle with things like that. I imagine your happiness now, looking at those beautiful plants- I really hope you have a lovely evening

Psychopsis are truly fascinating plants- I dont have one, but I always admire the pictures of that plant- its a cool plant😎

Both of them😊

Congrats again, and thanks for sharing your story- I really appreciated reading that😊

Thank you so much for your kind words! Life is so short and full of so much unpleasantness, I've learned to hold tight to the things that bring me joy...God, my amazing husband, my awesome grandchildren, our doggies, my orchids, and all the wonderful people here on this forum. I don't even do Facebook because of all the drama, it seems people are always trying to start something just because, but here the forum members are nothing but kind, helpful and supportive. I'm beyond grateful Hope you have a wonderful evening too!!

It will be a year this November since I first connected with Jim, he has always been honest with me and I have always gotten great plants when I ordered from him. He is more interested in quality then I have found with most other orchid dealers. I am going to check that Dendrobium out to see if it will do well in my climate!

Nice purchases!!!

Just saw that it will not survive in my area, too bad.
