How important is it to you that your orchid-related vendors be accredited by the BBB?

When I started working from home, and wanted my business to expand, I applied, was approved, and received a really reasonable fee.

In the two years since doing that, I have received absolutely zero activity through them, and now that I am retired from my "real job", and have been billed the normal (much higher) renewal fee, I'm thinking that I'll drop it.

I usually just read reviews from forum posts. I've ordered a lot of plants from a lot of vendors, and have never even checked for the BBB logo on any of their websites.

I've ordered from you, and have received nothing but healthy plants. Your reputation worth me is solid either way. Why waste the money?

It looks good when I see it, but it's not something I ever really think to check for. I buy from you because I know you have nice plants, irresistible discounts fairly frequently, and a cheap shipping option (even though I know the cheap shipping is at my own risk). And prompt shipping! I always get my plants about 2 days after placing the order.

I find that most businesses I've looked up on BBB have the highest accreditation available on BBB. I don't want to say it's inflated or be cynical, but after a while, it isn't really reliable. I would drop it. The majority of customers that do go to your site and shop probably don't stumble in randomly from the internet. I would instead focus on reaching potential customers through boards like these and nursery connections for recommendations and to reach the orchid growers that aren't as savvy on the internet.

I never check BBB before I buy an orchid. I used it to have tree trimmers come to my house and remove 4 trees, but for something like orchids no.

You have such a great reputation Ray that I would buy anything from you and if I have friends who want good sources for orchids and orchid related products, I would not hesitate to refer them to you.

Therefore, having a BBB medallion is probably overkill!

I found your website just by searching the internet. I am new to orchids and reading everything I can find. I placed my first order ever on your site because I loved your website. I love the science based information and the plants of course! To be honest I didn't notice the BBB till later. I just jumped in and started reading the good stuff!

When I was in business for myself (for 10 years)l dont remember anyone ever telling me that they checked with the BBB to see if I was reputable or not. I don't think I have ever called them either. Jean

I'd say drop it too as your reputation around the internet and orchid world speaks for itself, as does doing business with you. Save the money.

I never check it either. I'm not sure I trust them anyway. I know there not suppose to be a Gov. agency but some how I just can't get fallow the money out of my head. It seems to me things that always start out as a good thing always get messed up.
