Don't you hate it when the plant arrives with the spike damaged?

I had an internal debate about purchasing this Coelogyne, always wanted one but they are too big. So when one was offered with a spike, I thought I could at least keep it while still a small first bloom division (4" pot). The spike got bent in transit, spot oxidized enough that it won't firm up ever again.

With one exception, plants are not allowed anything bigger than a 4" pot in my grow space. (And if that one exception-Bulbo lilacinum, I'm looking at you-doesn't do something soon...) I haven't checked the roots yet but up-top, there's still room for a couple of years.

And another package (unrelated) was missing an item.

Phooey, just phooey.

Bummer. To commiserate, I had beautiful big buds about to open on one of my B nodosas. Went out this morning to find the buds were gone. I hope whatever ate them has a real bad tummy ache!

I think it just was one of those days. The plant I ordered was left on the mail truck when it was "out for delivery". Tried to chase him down but he was too fast. Then they lost it for awhile, finally I was able to drive to the Post Office to pick it up so it didn't have to spend another day in a box. It came out nice, a little ping with 5 babies.
But then the power went out as some transformer blew and the generator started leaking gas... finally back on a few hours later.

Bought some new orchids last weekend and decided to re-pot them, as usual, right away. Soaked the Angraecum sesquip. in water for an hour as they hate having their roots disturbed. Didn't matter as the Angraecums roots were dead anyway. That will be a fun rescue....

Aww that's to bad, sorry about the spike. I have only ever gotten one in spike in the mail and it is fine. Still blooming, funny thing was I didn't even know it was coming in spike.
