From a guys perspective, (and I'm almost 62). Orchid Shows and societies, are 'a little dissapointing' for pikin up chicks. Guess that why my gf doesn't mind my going alone. I believe it's just as much a let down for the ladies too.
That said, if you go, and go often, it is a true testament to your love of orchids. I attended the Atlanta Orchid Show, last Friday, and Saturday, and Sunday. Won a first place for my Dtps OX Spot Queen.
You walk in, the the euphoria, and anxiety strikes immediately. So many orchids, so little money. Then as you are walking around, the fragrances start to hit you, and hit you hard and repeatedly. You could blog about those fragrances in your other post (about sexual conetations).
You go with pre-conceived notions of what you are going to get, but with every time you walk around, you notice something new. You line stuff up and then walking by a display you see something else.
I keep saying I'm a Cat man. I'm tired of Phalaenopsis. What did I end up buying? A Phal gigantea (species), and a Paraphalaenopsis (something I never imagined existed).
Then yesterday, I notice a Den. Amethystoglossum in one of the displays. I have a C. Amehtystoglossum which is one of my favorites, and now I have to get its namesake in the Dendrobium variety.
Have fun.
