I managed to get out of the Pacific Orchid Expo without doing any major damage to my wallet. So many wants, but I had my friend there saying "no" to save me money. I walked away with a little pot of Pleione formosana and an aerangis fatuosa. I almost bought a neofinetia falcata Manjushage, but $100 for a single fan or $160 for a mature fan with babies made it much easier for my friend to talk me out of it. I know that I'll cave someday, but yesterday was not that day. Hehe.

I must admit, I went a little crazy at the POS last Saturday... just to name a few:

Dendrobium Auriculatum
Aeranthes Ramosa
Dendrobium Spectabile var. Aureum
Ascocentrum Ampullaceum
...
and a Leptotes Bicolor.

Mostly out of curiosity and opportunity. -guilty-

It's my birthday next week, so my sister and I went to EFG Orchids in Deland FL. Mr. Hausermann was very helpful- my sister was delighted, she grows also and has a place to keep a few paphs- and as my birthday present, she wanted to buy me something. So with Mr. Hausermann's help picking out, I've taken the plunge with my first Stanhopea- S. tigrina. I've been wanting to try them for a long time, but my schedule didn't let me take proper care of super thirsty plants (also why no bulbos here). Now that I'm sick and around more, it seems like a good time to try. If this goes well for a year, I'd love to try Coryanthes and some of those freaky Coryhopea hybrids.
I love Encyclias, so I broke down a couple weeks ago and bought a bag baby E. guadelpeae x. tampensis. It looks good, and is big enough it may bloom this summer.

Went light on the birthday buying this year

Windy Hill-
Paph Cereal Killer (vini maud) in spike
Paph (Prince Edward of York x Kolosand) seedling

SVO-
Fdk After Dark x cyc warscewiczii
Ctsm (Jose Abalo x fimbriatum v. morrieanum)
Mo. Barnabas Collins (Cl. Grace Dunn x morm tapoayensis)

The Mo. Barnabas Collins is in spike, with 56 or so buds! Nice surprise! And the fdk x cyc has 3 new growths starting! I couldn't have been happier.

Have ordered a flask of Angraecum viguieri. Have also got a back order on angraecum longicalcar. They've only just germinated so I have a bit of a wait until I can get the flask.

Of note longicalcar is critically endangered in the wild. Only 25 left. perhaps a good time to declare that my future flask is 100% cites legitimate! When I eventually get the flask I'll do a post to show progress.

Our local botanical garden was having their annual plant sale, and I bought a very large C. Maxima 'Chadwick Dark' for just $20.

Wow that is a great deal!
