I just ordered a Lepanthopsis astrophora! So excited to have found one! I plan to grow it in a glass orb that is pretty tall, hope it will be happy there. If not I will grow in my tiny greenhouse. Can't wait!

I love it! I have one in my terrarium and it pretty much blooms non-stop!

I don't know if that orb will be big enough in the long term. Depends on how large your plant is when you get it. My lepanthopsis astrophora is about four inches across already, and that's not including the spikes, which fan out quite a ways. One of the spikes on mine is about five inches long.

I was wondering the same, how big it will be when it arrives. I ordered it from Seattle Orchids and I've not ordered from them before. I have to admit, the orb will be nice if the plant fits, but it was an excuse to buy the astrophora! If the plant is too large, I have several other options for it. The hole in the orb is 2 1/2" x 3", and in the lower half of the orb. Would be cool to have the spikes/blooms poke out of it.
I guess if it won't work out, I'll be buying something else, wouldn't that be a shame? I'm honestly just excited to have found this orchid available.

![Smile](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif) Mine came from there also. I love the little thing. The board mine came mounted on would not fit through a two inch opening. I have mine in an exo-terra terrarium with a few other plants and it's the smallest terrarium they make. My biggest plant in there right now is the Lepanthopsis astrophora. They have some great big jars at hobby lobby and other craft stores that I bet would make great terrariums for this plant if your orb isn't big enough. One of our members has a lantern that was a decorative item for putting candles in. They water proofed it and turned it into a terrarium. There are all kinds of ways to get creative with it!

I assume you have been happy with Seattle orchids then, great. I have a great big jar, terrarium now. It's is only a 1 gallon but plenty big. Currently has a Bulbophyllum Rosary beads and a teeny NOID Phal in it. These jars with lids are awesome, you can put them anywhere. My terrarium is what I call my greenhouse, lol, it is a little thing from Ikea. So cute but stuffed full currently. I have another small terrarium from Home Goods, it looks like a bird house with a very tall roof. This was inspired by the Nightstand Lantern. If the astrophora is too large for the orb, I will figure something out for it, such a beautiful plant I thought it should have its own little show case. I have several unused aquariums (6) and I may have to start thinking a little bigger.

I have been really happy with Seattle Orchid. Their customer service is excellent and all of my terrarium orchids have come from them. I did have a problem with one plant that I ordered from them, but I sent them an email with some photos and they shipped out a replacement.
I may need a bigger one soon myself. My 12x12x24 is not going to hold all of these orchids forever. I want to upgrade to a larger size and I do have a spare 10 gallon tank, but I'll do it when I need to, I think.

I'm excited for the plant to arrive. My little greenhouse is 17x 9x 11. I have empty 10gal, 5 gal, 20 long, 29gal, 60gal, and 125gal. I could be in trouble if I get started there! That 125 would be so cool.

I got my astrophora from Seattle orchids too. Love them.
Maybe even more than Andy's orchids.
But don't tell anyone lol.
And if it doesn't fit long term into the orb you'll just have to buy another orchid that will!
