Don't put the L. telipogoniflora in the windowsill. Move it back 12-18 inches. Two of mine are that distance away from the east-facing filtered window and are 30-50% red leaved.

I had forgotten that you had this as your avatar! Thanks for the tip. I was planning on growing this next to the Platystele stenostachya and Haraella rectrocalla as they appear to take the same conditions, according to Andy's website. Would a northern window be better? Thanks.

I don't know about a north window. Gradually move it to find the threshold. They do well under lights, too.
I find them almost always in bloom with some red leaves. Aim for 10% red leaves to start.

My other Mini Purple was a seedling and in the past ten months, has bloomed twice (first and second times to bloom). Blue Hawaii is said to be a very vigorous one that, once established, blooms easily. So....

Just how many mini Purples is there? Is Blue Hawaii the bluest? I see one on Seattle Orchids sight a corulea, how ever you spell it.
I just order 3 new orchids from them on free shipping weekend. Will tell later.

You could probably make an entire orchid collection out of the varieties (some people collect walkerianas!). 'Blue Hawaii' is an old cross made in 1965. It is probably not the best cross out there (no award) but I really love it.
I can't wait to hear what you bought!

Here's the Paph Hisae's Royal Duck
EDIT: Some Paph growers are telling me that this plant is mislabeled and is most likely a Paph rothschildianum or hybrid with strong rothschildianum background.

That looks to have a strong rothschildianum background... but then when I look at pictures of Hisae's Royal Duck that also looks to have a strong rothschildianum background.
In searching for pictures I've found the thread on Slipper Talk where they say they can't see the adductum influence in it and I'm not an expert to will have to bow to their opinion. My own thought though is that different seedlings can show more or less of a given parent's traits compared to other siblings. If it was seed grown as many paphs still seem to be then it could just be one showing more of the roth characteristics. But I am just guessing so

I know Rosie, to be honest I don't know what to think. I may contact the grower because I would like to know what the plant actually is, if it is indeed mislabeled.
