Well, 2015 brings about the time to rebuild my collection following a massive loss due to neglect. Both of my parents needed final care and I was not able to care for what I had and lost all but 3 out of 80-90 some odd.
So - started out with a lot of miniatures, some for my collection, some for the area museum collection I am helping to build up. So here is my current inventory:
-Vanda denisoniana;
-Chiloschista usenoides;
-Chiloschista lunifera;
-Chiloschista 'Freckle Face';
-Ceratostylis rubra;
-Dichaea glauca;
-Encyclia dichroma;
-Sophronitis coccinea 'Round';
-Sophronitis coccinea 'Japan #1';
-Dendrobium unicum;
-Dendrobium lamyaiae;
-Dendrobium anosmum;
-Sophrolaeliacat 'Anduril';
-Potonara 'Haw Yuan Glory';
-Epidendrum radicans 'Red';
-Dendrobium senile;
-Dendrobium oligophyllum;
-(2) Aerangis luteo-albo var. rhodostica;
-Angreacum didieri 'Valley Isle';
-Aerangis fastuosa;
-(2) Schoenorchis fragrans; (got two-they are small)
-Haraella retrocalla;
-Mystacidium capense;
-Renanthera imschootiana;
-Maxillaria sophronitis;
-Maxillaria buchtienii;
-Dyakia hendersoniana;
-Bulbophyllum purpurescens;
-Bulbophyllum longissimum;
-Bulbophyllum vaginatum;
-Restrepia brachypus;
-(6) unnamed Phalaenopsis "rescues";
-Supplies such as Tree fern plaques, cork plaques and rounds, New Zealand spaghnum moss, Orchiata bark.......
- and finally - a large sized (36"x18"x18"), Exoterra terrarium/vivarium kit to plant my collection in. Fell into this at a liquidation sale - got it for a song!
It has been a rough two years overall, but I am rebuilding and rethinking my collection now, looking to the future.

Ok, admit it.....what have you bought lately 2015 edition!!

I would love to see some pics of your terrarium set up! Do you have a thread for that? I have the exoterra mini tall and will probably be upgrading to a larger size at some point.

I just got it last weekend, so I really haven't even taken it out of the shrink wrap. When I start to plant it up I will take and post pics of the project. Right now I am having to shuffle a lot of things around to make room for it, which then leads to spring cleaning and our apartment has sort of a "domino effect" - if I move one thing, another thing has to be moved, and on and on.
I have a couple of projects going on right now, so it may take a month or two before I can really get started on the planting.
Have you posted pics of yours? I would love to see it if so.
Have a great spring!

Not the best pic, and not current. I have found one tilandisia that likes my terrarium. The others in this photo declined very rapidly. I probably should updates thread on this guy, it's been a while since I posted anything on it.

I also have a large ExoTerra terrarium that I found at a Goodwill. Picked it up for like 20 bucks. It was half off day that day. didn't mind that the wife was glaring at me because here I go again adding yet another aquarium to my office. :biggrin: So right now I have two 20 gal aquariums, 1 mini for my leafless and miniatures, then the ExoTerra terrarium. :dance13::dance13:

Beautiful arrangement of plants! Sorry to hear some bromeliads bit the dirt, but I am sure you will have plenty of ideas for replacing them!
Romeomffn:
And I thought I got a good deal - that is a great buy! We will all have to post some pics as we work on the terrariums!
I recently purchased some resurrection fern (Pleopeltis polypodioides) and wanted to use it in my terrarium - has anyone tried this before? It is a common epiphytic fern, and has such nice small, very uniform fronds.

Already done actually! I replaced them with platystele umbellata and Schoenorchis Fragrans, which is awesome, but the slowest growing orchid I have seen yet. Talk about requiring patience!

I'm looking at getting a larger terrarium, because I want to try Aerangis Luteo-alba var rhodosticta and can't maintain the humidity it needs in my office and it's a larger plant than this small terrarium can manage. I may just set up a second terrarium that is larger for my warmer growing plants and leave this small one for cooler growers. I'd like to try Dendrobium Cuthbertsonii again, but I need better temp control for it and a way to manage to keep it more moist than I was able to do. I think it might be a good fit for this smaller setup. We'll see. :D

Randomgemini:
I have two of the Schoenorchis fragrans and I totally agree - no noticeable movement in 3 weeks, but still looking very healthy and happy.
I have two of the Aerangis luteo-alba and they are in with my other orc's in a 35 gallon tank, just basically a holding unit until I get the larger tanks set up - I bought quite a few mini's thinking about the larger set up I would have someday - looks like that day is here, so now I have to do more than just purchase - now I have to work, but it will truly be a labor of love. Thanks for sharing -
Steve
