Maybe it is fortunate that I am limited by space.

Wow! Over 700 orchids at young age. I'm impressive, though..

700! Holy cow that's crazy. Are they all outside or in shade houses I mean? How great that you have the appropriate climate. I look forward to summer and putting my orchids back outside - admittedly getting some of my indoor space back - but then it's a whole new ball game when it's time to bring them back in.

I gotta agree with WhiteRabbit as I've just hit my 100 mark (rather quickly I'll admit) that it's sort of overwhelming. Does it help I just bought 5 more at a show? Sure it helps that now I have 4 blooming plants to love and stare at instead of mostly a bunch of green but... ... where do I put them?

Wanna share some of your list? Or shall I ask what you "specialize" in? Oh and gosh yes you are young, how'd you get started and so addicted in this crazy orchid world!?

Hey Lotis, well I grow most of my plants in a shade house and under trees.I also have some growing in full sun. Well i mostly have vandas and phals, I,m a specie person so I got lots of species. I also grow lots of Jamaican natives.
My addiction started as soon as I was born, my mom was a judge of her society and I used to go to shows, meeting and orchid collecting with her all the time, my first orchid that I got for myself was a tolumnia pulchellum I collected when I was 9.

How cool that your mom was a judge!! Does she still collect and/or judge? I guess that's a good way to get you started at a young age!

Pretty cool that you can keep them outside like that, I'm sure they appreciate it. Whenever you want to share some pics don't hesitate. I still can't imagine caring for 700! I have mostly hybrids but I can still appreciate one's love for the species.

Wow, don't think I could cope with that many. However if you can grow out in shade houses or greenhouses or even outside I can see it would be easier. Half of my greenhouse ones have to come inside for the winter and that's when it get's really hard to manage them all (around 160).
