2014 Jakarta Garden Expo

It's the first ever Jakarta Garden Expo! Held in the Lapangan Banteng (Bulls' court) garden from Nov 21st until Dec 21st. The expo's PR and marketing communication team wasn't doing their job, because not many vendors and general public knew about it. Only 100 vendors attending (compared to the 400vendors of the annual Flona fair held in the same place at the middle of the year) and it was much less crowded.

Visited the expo yesterday, the day before that I was just arrived back from Hawaii, still jet lagged and ended up forgetting where I park my car.

Paph primulinum flavum. Over 15 blooming plants only this one is a flavum variety, others are purpurescens, so I bought it. The flower was upside down so I rotated the pic so you have the flower upside up


Paph javanicum peloric


Phal violacea x luedemanniana so it's a luedde-violacea. This is the best flower of the whole bunch. The smell is a mixture of both species

Vanda coerulea alba


Gigantic Phal gigantea, compared it to a large well established amboinensis next to it.

Vanda lombokensis, relatively newly available species from the Island of Lombok, right to the east of Bali. don't know whether it is a natural hybrid or a species, very variable species

Dend bracteosum. The seller put a white, light pink and dark purple variety in one plaque so the buyer can get all three in one purchase. I bought one of these.

A cymbidium species from Sulawesi. The only one available, I like the velvety dark red contrasted with the bright yellow lip.

Vanda tricolor albescens!!!!

It was sold as alba but I noticed the lip has a faint pink colour, but still...

It was already sold, the final price is $4,500. But they also sell flask of its selfing, should I get one and try grow my own? Hopefully I got a true alba hahaha

Weather is horrible! But I managed to take a few photos


Grammatophyllum stapeliiflorum. Forgot to ask from which localities this one from. Different places have different colour flowers. Some are almost black.
