Yesterday, I went to the complex to buy an orchid as a gift because it's much cheaper to buy it there rather than the florist.
Didn't have much time to walk around because as soon as the stall attendant finished potting my choice of orchid, it rained heavily.
So here are the photo I managed to snap during the short time I was there
Fragrant noid Phals
Den antennatum x canaliculatum. Mommy definitely dominate
Vanda tricolor var pallida/ semi-pallida. Pretty expensive, if I bought it, I'll be fasting for half a month
Rhynchorides Bangkok sunset, want to get this for the gift, but it's a sample and not for sale
And the orchid I chose for the gift,
Ascocenda veraphol no2 if I wasn't mistaken.
I chose it because it's cheery, the monopodial nature made it look neat as a potted plant, kind of look like a Phal which the receiver like and she likes to try growing orchids and managed to rebloom few dendrobium orchids I gave her, so I let her move up a level.
It was planted on a small slated rectangular plastic hanging basket and its roots dangled beneath it. The attendant wrapped the roots around the basket, stuck it inside a ceramic pot and covered the surface with coconut husk. Dang, forgot to photograph the final result!
Cost: plant approx USD 10.50, pot approx 4 bucks, free coconut husk and styrofoam for the bottom of the pot, so the grand total is 14.50. If I were to buy it at a florist, at least double that!
