I haven't put this in the classifieds because I'm looking for general feedback at the moment and wasn't sure where to put this.
I draw and paint, and was hoping to get a bit of a commissions business going with the idea of possibly selling prints through sites like DeviantArt, or perhaps posting the original drawing/painting out to the person who commissioned it, if possible.
This is still just at the concept stage, so I was wondering if people had feedback about a process like this: would you be happy with a print and not the original if it wasn't possible to post it? What kind of turn-around time would you expect if you commissioned something? What sort of prices would you expect to pay for prints and/or originals? Would you even be interested in commissioning a painting/drawing?
Ideally, I would want to work from a source photograph provided by the commissioner. I have below an example of a recent drawing from a photo of Polystachya pubescens (source picture courtesy of Bill Hunter):
The above is an A2 pastel on pastel paper. I work in oils and acrylics, as well as pencil and ink. Not so much with watercolours, but I can if required. This is a photo of the drawing, so the lighting is a bit different from what it should be, but not too far off.
Thanks in advance!
