Default I was gushing about my recent orchid acquisitions ...

... merrily babbling on. When M'Lady turns to me, gives me that look, cocks an eyebrow and says:
"You need an orchid friend".
So, I've come over here to brows around the forums to see what my "orchid friends" are up to.

So insensitive!

Perhaps what you really need is a new Lady.

Oh, I have been gushing over in the Advanced Discussion forum.

Nah, I'll keep her a bit longer. We both laughed hard after she said that. And I think I've said similar to her when she babbles on about her Bridge sessions every week.
Some of her interests are of no interest to me. And some of my interests are of no interest to her. 'Taint problem for us.

I think it is healthy is have some separate interests. My husband could care less about my orchids, but he is really good sport about building benches, putting up rods from which to hang plants; and just this morning he drilled through a Tree Fern Slab so i could run an aluminum rod through it for hanging (my new Epi. Porpax ) He tried coming to an OS meeting, but was bored out of his mind. If you need more orchid friends, try the local OS!

If she got some orchids, I'd have to be taking care of some that I didn't pick out.

if we spent all our time in each others back-pocket, Somebody would probably get strangled.
A lot of separate interests with a few in common is the only way to go.
Makes for a good friendship.

EDIT:
It also has to include a large dose of tolerance.

I agree. My hubby has no idea what I am growing. I have no idea what math thing he is proving (for fun!). It is perfectly fine as I do not want to share my window or shelf space.
