Here is what was in the root system of my cymbidium. I used a yardstick for reference. There are actually three sections - one is on top of the other and the third I pulled apart and flipped over. There was an enormous cavity in the roots, where this was living. But, I think we have closed that chapter, at least at this location. Will run some additional water this evening, when all the pots are given a drink, and get the roots settled.
The ones in my front yard will get a heavy dose of Epsom salts tonight -- they are still buzzing around this afternoon. That will teach me to mow my grass - made them all very, very angry....
I really would like to go back to orchids - not nearly as vindictive when you disturb them....
I have another question about phaleanopsis but that will have to wait for another day -- and another thread. The knowledge available at this website is phenomenal so would like to pursue solutions on another thread. Maybe will post this evening, when the sun goes down. It's too gorgeous of a day to be inside!
