That could very well be it. It was potted when I got it, and the roots were like that when I took it out of the pot... All my others Aeragnis, etc.. (except the Project 4 plant, of course, but IIRC that was potted in sphag) came already mounted.
Good thinking, Terri!!

Also found my second Prostechea cochleata in bloom

Approx 800+ FCs, not in orchidarium (it's in upstairs grow window), mounted on cedar slab, watered (dunked) daily with fertilizer, and sitting in front of small A.C. fan 24/7. I have a second plant (a gift from an Orchidboard member) that is potted in bark and watered maybe every third day or so that is sending up new leaf and new roots, but no spikes.
Think you just have to bear with it and see what developes.

I'm hoping. but I've had a few lost spikes lately , so i'm not getting my hopes up too high just yet, until I figure out the problem. I've been doing a lot of reading here trying to pin it down. What a great site.

Deborah, I'm sure you know this, but if you had any specific questions, or wanted advice with a specific plant - all you have to do is ask!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your blooms!

What a great thread - I think it's neat to see how the same plant blooms at the same time for people in different parts of the world!
IN BLOOM:
Sedirea japonica (every year it blooms at exactly the same time give or take a few days...weird huh )
Phal Nobby's Amy
Phal Fajen's fireworks
Phal noid (x6)
Dend noid
LC. Jungle Elf x Enc cordigera
Cookara bill
In spike:
My other sedirea japonica (kind of stalled)
Yellow phal noid
Neofinetia falcata (I have no idea whether they're spikes or growths but I'm going to consider them spikes..wishful thinking? :P)
New growth (no idea why the dends are making new growths...
Coelogyne nitida
Dend. Roy Tokunaga x Nora Tokunaga
Dend. ’Kouchi’s Pride’
