Later today. I've been waiting for more of the blossoms to open wide. Looks pretty good now, though. I'll post a seperate thread.

That's one heck of a list, Sue!! I don't have nearly as many plants, so monthly was do-able for me. I think it would take me all month just to check on each one if I had as many as you! You've listed more than I have in total... Great collection! You've got some really great things there!

I was bored today...too cold to go out and do anything we normally do so it was the perfect time to make a lit...except for the fact that ALL the plants from the lanai are in the orchid room waiting for the freeze to pass and it's a little difficult to get around in there

Well, my ONE flower on that Epidendrum opened today - and its let me identify just what one it is! It was ordered as Epidendrum pseudepidendrum var. album, however, when it arrived it was tagged Epi. paniculata. It is in fact IOSPE PHOTOS
Epidendrum xanthoianum (which used to be Epidendrum pseudepidendrum var. auratum Rchb.f. 1885)

It seems a bit silly to only have 1 (small at that) flower on a plant that's nearly 3 feet tall and several canes!! But here it is! Pretty nice colour combo - just wish there were more of them!!

Why do you suppose there is only one flower? Is this the way the species is? Or is there some growing need to fill? Or is it just a jouvenile that will one day display the rafts of flowers the genus is famous for? Just curious.

I don't think it is that young a plant, as one previous cane looks to have flowered. I think next season I will not grow it so cool - now that I know what species it is. Maybe with a bit warmer temps, I'll get more flowers. Though IOSPE says "carrying 3 to 4 simultaneous, resupinate flowers" so I don't think 'rafts of flowers' are on the cards... My only hope is for more canes to flower!! But if that's the case, then this plant needs to get HUGE.

Okay, I was finally able to put all the "regular" plants back out on the lanai where they belong! I was able to get to a few 'chids that I missed on my original monthly list:

In spike: Phaius tankervilleae
In bud: Den Spring Bouquet

New growths:
Den Chasrai Gold
Blc Mediatation x Blc California Girl
Blc Dora Louise Capen 'Lea'
Lc Dinard 'Blue Heaven'
and
Blc Murray Spencer 'Armroy's Dark Star' x Lc Royal Emperor 'Wade'

That's it for now
