Default Your Favorite Orchid(s)?

Whether it's a whole genus or specific orchids, I'd like to know. ("All of them" doesn't count! )

Mine are:
1) Dendrobiums
2) Phals (especially miniatures and Doritaenopsi)
3) Cymbidiums

Feel free to share yours!

Which of your specific plants to you like the best. I like to see names, so I know what else I need to buy!

How about all of them that are currently in bloom?

My current favorites are aerangis luteo-alba, dendrobium Aussie's Chip, and an oncidium twinkle of some sort. I haven't seen the others bloom in a while so can't really remember how much they wow me. Some psuedobulbs are reach maturity so here's hoping for spikes to refresh my memory!

Hahaha, awesome reasoning! I assume by your screen name that you're referring to Phals. I do have quite a few Phals, all of which I love, but here are some of my very favorites in no specific order:

Phal Bandan's Kaleidoscope.
It's not a mini or Dtps, but I love it! A picture says more than a thousand words:

Phal Brown Sugar
Again, not a mini or a Dtps, but it's just beautiful and unusual!

Phal Equestris & Phal Equestris 'Apari' Pink
I think you know what these look like, so I won't bother posting a pic of that.

Phal Amboinensis x Equestris
Not a mini either, but it has small blooms.

Dtps Tzu Chiang Sapphire
One of my top fives for sure!

Phal Wilsonii x Chibae

Phal Hybrid KD 598

Phal Violacea var. coerulea

Phal Violacea var. mentawai

Phal Bellina var. ponkan

Dtps La Reine De Porcelaine

Dtps Anna-Larati Soekardi

Phal SOGO Twinkle Abundance

I'll post if I can think of more, but this was pretty much almost my entire Phal collection, haha!

My favorite orchids are large cattleyas. I live in South Florida and the environment in my back yard is prefect for them. Vandas also grow well here, but they require more attention and care. The down side to cattleyas is that they're not in bloom for very long. I have a few vandas and a few phals because both bloom for much longer than cattleyas.

If I give a different answer here than I did when you asked this on another forum will anyone notice My answer changes all the time anyway

My favorites are Slippers, especially Cyps. My favorite individual plant is my Gastrochillus japonicus.

And what I forgot about in my previous answer was Masdevallia which also come pretty high in my favorites list.

Oh gosh...well I have a lot of plants honestly, but haven't seen most of them bloom (the fault of an addict to overwhelm one's self with one's addiction at every chance) so I can't give any sort of solid answer here.

I reserve the right to change my answer at any time whether now or in the future ...

Phals & Paphs are probably my favorite genuses (for now). Phals because they got me started, they have big thick roots, subtle yet elegant & clean flowers (they're simple and yet complex), and their flowers produce such an amazing display up on that spike!

Paphs (not because they were my second after Phals) because their flowers are unique and they can have really interesting, beautiful leaves to be admired when not in flower.

Plus both of their lighting situations is pretty easy for me to achieve

But I do like the display/show that Oncidiums (like my Wilsonara & Heaven Scent) put on with their vibrant flowers, so numerous as they can be.

Specific names, well, for now:
Phal. Minho Princess x Lightning
Phal. Taida Golden Lawrence '#3'
Zygolum Rhein Moonlight
Miltoniopsis Lennart Karl Gottling 'Hula Skirt'
Slc. Jewel Box 'Dark Waters'
Dtps. Fusheng Sweet Paradise 'Golden Leopard'
Dtps. Chingruey's 'Goldstaff' (mini version)
Bratonia Shelob
Lc. Mini Symphony 'Elfin Blue'
Ponerorchis graminifolia

Nothing like narrowing it down...lol...

It looks like this:

Personally, I like the "purebred" Tzu Chiang Sapphire more.
