Brassia hybrid in bloom. What do you have in bloom or spiking now? - Orchid Board

This is a lovely NOID orchid I picked up a few months back. As soon as I went to repot it, I noticed it was spiking again already, so I let her be.

I also have my oncidium sharry baby spiking, along with a division of the same sharry baby spiking. I have a NOID hybrid of some sort spiking, which will be a first bloom for me and this plant.

What do you guys have blooming or spiking right now that you are excited to see?

l have so many NOID phals spiking or in bloom just I've lost count. But most exciting just now is Harella retrocalla with it's first home grown spike.

My Onc. Sharry Baby has ten spikes, so I am looking forward to THAT display- tho it is already difficult to manage the plant at this point

A large Neo also has ten spikes, so I am looking forward to THAT

And a little Neo I got a couple of years ago blooming for the first time.

A Miltassia I have had a few years, but had trouble with the first 2-3 years, so has not bloomed before in my care, has just started to bloom

A Catt hybrid I have had a few years and has only bloomed once (2-3 years ago) has buds

Btw- your 'Brassia noid' looks to be Miltassia Shelob

10 spikes!! Wow! I know your place will smell great. I divided my sharry baby, but it keeps getting big. Maybe I'll let it get huge....

Can u post a pic of the plant here? I'd love to see it!

P.S. thanks for the miltassia tip. I have a soft spot for anything with brassia in it.

I was just in late winter/early spring thinking I needed to re-pot, and divide my Sharry Baby when I started finding all those spikes! It's trying to bust out of it's 10" pot (bending the pot). There are five pbulbs that matured over winter, and all have two spikes! Mine has never gotten two spikes /pbulb before ... It stays outside year-round, getting colder than it should, no doubt - I think it appreciated our very mild winter

One spike has just started to open buds - more recent ones haven't started to get buds yet ...

Wow!! Look at the size of that plant! Maybe I will let mine get big!

Do you just let the spikes grow on their own, or do you plan to support them? My spike is really tall already with no buds just yet.

If you click to view the pix - you can see I have "short" (a fair amount shorter than the spikes at 18 and 24 inches) ring stakes - these support the first foot or so of the spike, allowing the rest of the length to cascade beautifully

attached photo is from last September - a single, but huge spike - about 4.5' long with many branches; over 200 blooms - a fabulous cascade of flowers!
