It's an L. Purpurata var. striata. Gorgeous, isn't it?

80 in a one-bedroom!!! Gosh, that would be a sight. Do you ever feel the need to explain to people just what they're missing?

Hah, I'm very enthusiastic about it all - I try my best to give "the bug" to other people, and so far, I've managed to "infect" one other resident at the assisted living facility I live in. She has 7 orchids now.

I used to worry that I wasn't going to have room for the Orchids I was getting, that it was getting out of control and might be sloppy...then I got my little greenhouse and became more comfortable putting them outside. Amazing how needing space for our Orchids puts our minds to work. I have a double-bench arbor in my yard that is perfect for some hanging pots...I so need pot hangers...oh I can only wonder how the rest of the summer will go and gosh how things will add up come winter...as I shake my fist in envy at all you warm climate folks who never have to bring them in!!! (Although I kinda do want to bring them in when they flower so I can stare at them...but then wouldn't I risk screwing up and confusing the plant by changing the environment like that?)

I feel the same way. All my orchids are inside though, mostly because I do want them near when they bloom for the exact same reason that you do - so I can stare at them for as long as possible. ;)
I wouldn't take the risk of stressing the plant (and possibly losing the blooms) by bringing it inside though, but if someone with more experience than me says it shouldn't be a problem, then, certainly, go for it! :)
