Default The Keiki Project

I thought I'd start a thread about my Keiki Project, and keep a journal and keep everyone who's interested updated.

I've purchased some Keiki Paste, and it arrived today. I've been very interested in getting some of this, as one of my Phals have developed a terminal spike, and I would like a keiki from it. I'd also like Keikis of quite a few of my other plants.

So let's get on with the journal...

24th of May
I have applied Keiki Paste to the following plants:
NoID Phalaenopsis (the one with the terminal spike)
NoID mini Phal/Dtps, yellow and pink
NoID mini Phal/Dtps, striped pink and white
Dtps. Tzu Chiang Sapphire
Dendrobium Sulawesiense
Dendrobium Hercoglossum

You put it on the spike (which is called a "cane" on dens), on one of the "lines" (nodes) - even though the den's cane seems to dry up, it's still able to produce keiki's.

Most of my dens haven't dried up though, but even though one of them has (my Cretaceum x Anosmum), it's still producing keiki's (currently, it has two on one cane and one on another).

Two of the three keiki's on my Dendrobium Cretaceum x Anosmum that were already there when I started the project have started growing roots! Here's one of them (the smaller one seems to be plateauing and not growing much)

I'll take a picture of the second one when the orchids are brought back into my room (I just watered some of them and they're draining in the bathroom).

I have decided to put Keiki Paste on the following orchids when they arrive in the mail:

Phal Bellina var. ponkan
Phal Equestris
Phal Brown Sugar
Phal Pink Swan
Phal SOGO Twinkle Abundance

Dendrobium Wardianum
Dendrobium Tortile
(I always read this as "tortilla" )

8th of June:
Lookie!

SOMETHING is happening. Whether it's a branch or a Keiki, only time will tell. It's very low on the stem though, so I'm hoping for a baby. <3

There's another one of these on another plant. Crossing my fingers...
