Some amazing plants checked off my dream list!
A local greenhouse (about an hours drive) is reducing stock, as the owner is getting older and he wants to get down to a couple of greenhouses. He is having a big sale in June, so since we no longer will be going to Redlands this year (boo) this was my consolation prize. Although, I am unsure if I could touch some of the plants for the prices I got them for at Redlands.
Here's the list of what I picked up, a star indicates a plant that has been on my list for sometime: 1) *Dimorphorchis lowii (blooming size); 2) *Vandopsis gigantea; 3) *Vandopsis parishii var mariottiana; 4) *Phalaenopsis gigantea (blooming size); 5) Phalaenopsis tetraspis; 6) Phalaenopsis intermedia (red lip); 7) Grammophyllum scriptum var tigrinum; 8) *Vanda sauvis (huge); 9) *Euanthe sanderiana (huge); 10) Epidendrum porpax; and 11) Catasetum sasscatum.
Some were divisions that the owner was kind enough to give me off of his mother plant (phal., epi., catt.). It was wonderful to walk around the greenhouse and hear stories from his thirty years of selling orchids and fifty years growing them. I'm sad about not going to Redlands this year, but I couldn't have asked for a better way to make up for it.
I will try to post pictures later, but this is the first time the server would let me on the board in three days, so I didn't want to push my luck, as this post is already short novel. :-)

I'm sorry he doesn't. Most of the plants I purchased there was only one of.

Thank you! I did have a wonderful time with the owner; I learned so many tricks in the few hours I was there. I love listening to those who have so much knowledge to give.

Sometimes when I talk to orchid growers, like Glen Lehr of New World Orchids, or Bill Porter of Porters Orchids, etc...I'm actually paying for their time and knowledge and the plants I buy from them are secondary. You seem to be fortunate in your acquisitions nikkik, as you gain a lot more than just lovely plants.

And feel free to share this grower's info! I am always happy to help when an orchid grower is reducing stock!

The name of the greenhouse is Taylor Orchids. The owner, Ron, does not have a website or email address. He also does not accept debit or credit cards; it's cash or check only (my husband had to leave to get cash from the ATM).
His sale will be held Saturday, June 7th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Sunday, June 8th from 10 am to 2 p.m. The greenhouse is located in Monroe, Michigan. If you need more info. or details, please let me know.
