Default Can't Believe The Two Orchids I Scored Today

So I was visiting one of my favorite growers today and got these two outrageous orchids. I got the Oncidium (Trichocentrum) splendidum for $35. Crazy right? The Schomburgkia (Laelia, funny!) splendida Cauca for not much more in its nice 10 inch pot. Splendid Score I must say!

Congratulations! I can't say I'm surprised, since you live in an area that has a couple of dozen orchid growers. I visit Carib and RF two or three times a year.

T. splendidum is one of my favorites. That appears to be a nice healthy plant!

That is a large specimen 'mule ear'!....that will give you long spikes with lovely popcorn-like yellowish flowers.

The Schomburgkia has four mature bulbs that will give you flowers soon.

Impressive haul.

Must be nice to work off the tailgate of your truck at this time of year. More snow here in Michigan last night.

Nice plants!

If you look closely the "mule ear" has two large spikes that terminate above the top of the photo in a number of buds that look like they will open soon. One spike has the very tip broken off but still will give a few flowers soon.

I can only hope you are right about the Shomburgkia. This variety should produce extra dark beautiful flowers.

Just wondering what nursery these came from?

I have been looking for an old Jones & Scully plant for many years, and Homestead was, of course, Jone & Scully country, back in the days before Hurricane Andrew.
