I was not sure what category this plant falls under, so here I am!

I just got this plant from my society meeting.
Not knowing what it was, I was attracted to it for some reason.

It is rather small (about 5 inch across), three leaves which are frilly and wrinkly (parallel with vein direction) and spotted on the underside.

I just looked up some images online and it is so cute and supposed to smell like cinnamon when in bloom.

Frilly leaves with spots under side seems natural based on many pictures I see, but the wrinkles does indicate underwatering. I just gave it GOOD drenching.

and what is even better, it can be treated like phals, which is like the easiest one ever!

Now I'm looking forward to seeing white flowers with green/black throat. hopefully this spring.
wishful I know.

I grow it...it's been a relatively fuss free plant. It's an angraecoid and seems to do best w/the shady side of the group.

I have mine in a clay pot w/cork chunks and shredded redwood top dressing. It doing very well in the pot but the flowers would be displayed better on a mount so I will eventually move it to a mount.

Phal light is fine....as is a bit brighter. I grow in Intermediate temps. I water every day in the warmer months and a couple/three times a week during the colder months.

The frilly leaf edges are normal. They are very leathery and appear and feel...I don't know if I'd call it wrinkled...but definitely not smooth.....if that's what you're meaning then yes, that's normal.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info!

There are some wrinkles (like furrows? along the veins) on two of the older leaves. The youngest one does not have this. At the meeting last night, the bottom most yellowing leaf was taken off by someone. lol

All three leaves do feel rather hard and tough. but very thing. interesting plant.

I think I see a spike coming. I'm not sure if it is blooming size, but many pictures I see of this plant in bloom does not appear quite smallish, so I guess it could be.

It could be a new root, but it is just like with the phals. The tip is rather pointy. then again, I have no clue with this plant, so I will have to wait and see what happens.

It definitely blooms on a small plant. Mine is in a 4" pot and there is plenty of room to grow.

If I remember correctly, mine blooms in late Summer...August maybe. ??

It's a gorgeous plant and if I ever find the only other Eurychone species...I will grab it up fast. Actually, there is one more species and I believe there is a cross between the 2...if I find them...they will come live w/me.

Mine is in two inch pot. lol

Leaf span is about 5 inch though.

I hope it is a spike.

I read this one, rothchildiana bears the bigger flowers than the other species.
I like bigger flowers. can't wait!!!
