That's beautiful! I'm not much of a Cattleya-type fan, but L. Purpurata is one of my favorite orchids. The colors are amazing! Nice buy!
I absolutely forgot that I had bought it until a fried reminded me that I had bought it from a certain grower at a society (Maryland Orchid Society) meeting. She remembered it perfectly!

I just bought a beautiful cross. It's called Burrageara Nelly Isler I believe.

It smells so fragrant and I love it!

It does look like a Burr. Nelly Isler. It's very beautiful - I just ordered one from a webshop too, and it should arrive sometime next week - can't wait!

Congrats on yours, and good luck with it!

People suck sometimes...

That said, ROL is a good seller, gotten a few plants from him too. Nice job getting your plant back...sorta...

I bought a lot of 5 adult plants from an ebay vendor for 20 dollars! All are good plants but the vendor has been trying to get rid of them all last year. I actually short listed a few. One I bought from the vendor before, but it was the plant that froze to death in Dallas back in November.

See now I know it's hard to say no and listen to yourself, been there done that, but that is a great deal!! I've broke my own rule cuz a seller had "newly listed" a mini blue catt, a category I've been stuck on collecting

Admittedly I come back to this thread selfishly, I want to feel better about breaking my own ban by buying more!

Well, I went to Hausermann's recently too, also to get some pots...pots right...awesome excuse...

I limited myself to 7...after promising never to buy anymore AFTER having bought 3 small/mini Catts from Jewell Orchids AFTER promising ... so yeah... see they had a mini blue in bud come up (check it out in Catt alliance, Elfin Blue) and I won the auction... I thought gosh maybe they have more on their site, if they're gonna ship me stuff well should get more than one probably...right...and yes they had a couple more what I was looking for...deep breath, almost done... then turns out only one left of one of the plants wasn't up to their standards so they sent for me to "play" with but refunded my money for it!!! PLUS they sent a bonus plant! Okay, enough already, here's the list:

Lc. Mini Purple 'Blue Hawaii'
Dtps. Chingruey's Goldstaff (mini version)
Phal. Lianher Cranbery 'Pink Diamond L.101-3'
Phal. Zuma's Pixie x Dtps. Sogo Berry
Paph. Fairrieanum 'Red Glen #10' x Paph. Hsinying Glory '#5'
Paph. Hsinying Vinyweb '#2' x Paph. Hilo Magic Shift '#1'
Paph. Magic Leopard 'Voodoo' x Paph. Rubyweb '2096#1'
Lc. Mini Symphony 'Elfin Blue'
Lc. Amoena 'Blue Magic' AM/AOS x Lc. Aloha Bleu 'Gracielle'
Lc. Mini Purple x L. dayana
Lc. Interceps coerulea (C. intermedia aquinii coe '1730' x L. Anceps 'R. Caroline')

Haha, doesn't sound like me at all - I never break such promises! Much...

Nice list, though! And free plants! Awesome! Congrats on all of them - and happy growing!

While reading all of the posts describing broken self-promises not to buy any more plants until ..... or for some such time, I was reminded of my promises. I don't even pretend to promise myself anymore because I NEVER heed them, I just stay away from my favorite vendors, both in person and online. I buy, I buy, and I buy. A greenhouse full of plants is testimony for that.

I totally see how big a problem it is to summer plants outdoors!!!

Now my plant stands and indoor shelving unit are nearly bare (though I may bring some cool species back in) and it just seems so...WRONG! I've banned myself from even browsing eBay...But I'm so stoked about the corner of my yard I'm "rescaping" (with the intention of making it my orchid corner) that I can't get it done fast enough...makes me feel like I need more!!!!

Like every one here who went for groceries, and came home with lovely NOID Phalaenopsis, I have purchased my share of these plants. I really did not need to buy this one, but I did anyway. It looked very vibrant. I guess it was the photography. It probably was the leaves that were appealing.

I bought this from Big Leaf Orchids on eBay. Phalaenopsis aphrodite subsp formosana var. varigate. It has white flowers.

Phal bellina x violacea
Phal equestris 'apari' x Kingidium deliciosa
Phal Pulchra Red
Phal florensis x equestris
Phal Cornustris (equestris aurea x cornu-cervi alba)
Phal violacea var. sumatra
Dtps Purple Gem 'Aida'
Burr Nelly Isler
Den Parishii
Blc Village Chief North Little Spirit
Miltonia Tristar Night YH#2
Cym Mem. Marvin Gayle 'Royal' BM/CDA

And tonight, I'm making an order from Orchids-shop.eu that looks like this:

Dtps Anna-Larati Soekardi
Dtps Bonita
Dtps Jim x Phal Golden Peoker Black Bird
Den Nobile Firebird
Den Kingianum Dark
Den Goldschmidtianum
Den Star Sapphire
Barkeria spectabilis x Epidendrum criniferum

So... yeeeees. I should take a break... I think.
So... Schwerter was sold out of Blc Village Chiefs and Phal Violacea var. sumatra, so in their place, I ordered a Phal Equestris 'Apari' Pink (as well as a bunch of bark and spongerock).

Also, Orchids-shop.eu was fresh sold out of Dtps Bonita, so my order ended up looking like this:
Den Star Sapphire
Den Nobile Firebird
Den Kingianum Dark
Den Rainbow Dance
Den Goldschmidtianum
Dtps SOGO Chapstick
Dtps Anna-Larati Soekardi
Dtps Jim x Phal Golden Peoker Black Bird
Cymbidium Pastoral Lady
Barkeria Lindleyana
Barkeria Spectabilis x Epidendrum Criniferum
Epidendrum Ibaguense
... and a bunch of pots and stakes.

Also, upon being unable to get the Blc Village Chief, I went to the website of my favorite nursery to order it, and... BIG MISTAKE!
I ended up with this:
Blc Village Chief
Phal Violacea x Equestris
Phal Wilsonii x Chibae
Epidendrum Calanthum
... and some bark and white moss.

So, yeah. The promise of not buying anymore didn't last long, haha.
