Out of all my different types of orchids, it seems the Masdevallias and Draculas plus the Vandas seem to be doing best although they are at opposite ends of the spectrum of conditions orchids require. Yet they are just several feet away from each other in a Manhattan studio apartment!

It's amazing how using the open windows and LED lighting can do this!

This tells me you are good at watering, and you keep your apartment close to 75. Pleuros and Vandas both dislike drying out, especially in an NYC apartment. I think many pluerothallids like more light than the literature says. But to grow Vandas in a NYC. Apartment, you must have a really good light source. Am I right?

Yes, I have strong LED lights. In the summer I plan to hang the Vandas and Grammatophyllums on the roof (16th floor) if I can so they can get full sun all day.

Actually I just noticed I have three separate phrags and paphs in spike. The first time I saw the growths I thought they were just leaves, but now I can tell they are definitely buds.

So they must be happy too.

Oh and I have one Cattleya that started growing a new pbulb/leaf/presumably flowers.

The rooftop should be great for the vandas in the summer. Just be sure to protect them during the hottest part of the day and they will love it.
