Gee, this is really one of the funnest threads we've had for some time. I love the idea of a new one each month. Anyone who wants can join in (even Mauro ). Sue, how did you get such a response on your Tuberolabium? Mine (same spp) is shedding it's spike - the spike has turn all orange, limp and I think going to fall off. Not sure what I did to cause that The Haraella right next to it has deformed spikes and buds as well. Perhaps there are two 'chids sensitive to canola oil?

Don't you guys think the post will be WAAY to long by the end of the month if it catches on??

I don't know how much work it would be, but a possible sollution could be:
One new category:
Status reports / blogs / diaries - or something like that..
->each mont could be listed
->users could make monthly updates under each month

I don't know if this is much work, or just a couple of mouse clicks though

Christian

Too long? Nah...our longest thread to date which ran from 6/28/07 to 8/3/07 had 64 pages with 633 posts and 10,278 views!

This one won't come near that

Ross, I had one spike on my kotoense a few months ago which withered away and fell off. I have NO IDEA how these four spikes materialized!

My Haerella didn't fare so well...it had 5 buds on it and with absolutely no changes in placement or culture, they all dies...and the plant swiftly followed them to the big greenhouse in the sky

Canola oil doesn't come into play in my orchid room so I doubt if that's the reason.

Sue, do you think age has something to do with these actions? Wonder if some orchids just don't last as long as others? But that can't be cause I have one Haraella that is the oldest of the 4 I have that still pumps out the blossoms as it always has. This is weird.

I think it's just one of those moments.

All we can do is give them the best care we can and from there, it's up to them

Well, it's stilll November and I've found a bunch of new happy stuff going on out in the orchid room!

Three more of my vandas are in spike (one of them is a double! ) , my Bl Yellow Bird is in bud and Blc Daffodil bloomed today.

I did lose one of the spikes on a Phal that was going strong It must have gotten hit because it was hanging over with a soft spot in the center of the stem
Oh, well...it'll grow another one, I hope
