Default Free Web site/Home Page Building

Hello everyone,
I'm sure that some of you, at one time or another, have wished you had your own web site or "Home Page". I think I can make this possible for you. I have the time and the know how, and time is the most important thing that probably stops most of you.

A few things you should know before writing:
1. If you use a Dial Up connection you most likely have server space for a home page.
2. If you use DSL you do not have server space. This means you would need server space......somewhere. I know Yahoo offers free space for home pages, use of the 'free' space necessitates putting up with Yahoo advertisements. If you can live with that, fine. If you would rather have a no adv. page Yahoo has various options for home pages at small monthly/yearly fees. I'm sure other sites offer this service also. You would need to find the Server you want to use....a bit time consuming but, hey, got to give you something to do!
3. I will charge you nothing/nada/no fee for doing this. I have the time and would like very much to help you.
4. This offer is for personal web sites/home pages and is not offered for commercial sites.

5. It will make the whole process easier and faster if you have:
a. Patience
b. Yahoo Instant Messenger or MSN Instant Messenger.
c. The willingness to work with me.
I work on the KIS principle (Keep It Simple). Visitors are at your site to see what you are growing, how you are doing it, etc. Not to see how flashy the site is. A circus is fun but no one wants to go everyday.
If you would like to discuss this with me, send me a PM and we'll see if we can make it happen

Regards,

Great offer Al. One correction to the above regarding DSL. Depends on your provider. If the provider is one of the biggies like AT&T, you are correct. My DSL service is through my internet service provider and I have lots of server space (I also have a web site on-line). But I appreciate your offer as I hope others here do as well.

Thanks Ross, I wasn't aware of that. Probably 'cause I dont have DSL and haven't worked with it much as it is quite limited in this area.

UPDATE: Some DSL providers do have server space offered with your account. :[)

I'm gonna have to check into what my DSL offers.

Al, thank you for extending your offer to our OB members.

If your DSL provider doesn't offer server space, many email providers do. I have server space (2GB) through my email provider, FastMail.com. I think if you have a gmail account, it also comes with file space.

I agree with Ross, its a very generous offer that you've made, Al.

Thanks Shakkai, "my, things change so quickly around here"......
So folks, I guess all you need to do is check with your Internet Service Provider to see if your account comes with space for a home page....really makes things much simpler!

Al, you've opened a real kettle of worms here I'd recommend just doing the web site setup and let the client work their ISP to get it hosted. It's up to you.

LOL Ross, It really makes no difference to me. I'll upload the files to their server or they can do it. I think if folks will go to their ISP's home page they will find all the information they need i.e., if they have server space, how much, and probably how to upload to it. Keep in mind that 2 or 3 mb's isn't much space, especially for pictures and I think that everyone would like pictures of their plants/blossoms, perhaps where they keep them, maybe even pic's of themselves.
Let's not make it harder than it is. My offer is to build the files, I want each one to input as much as possible as to what the page(s) look like, etc. They design, I'll code and help anyway I can with the publishing to the www.
Keep the discussion flowing, everything has a solution, we just have to find it, even if the solution is a bit different for each individual.
