I ordered some (what I think to be) pricey vanda seedlings. I admired the vendor who sells them, as he has awesome crosses and is well known for his knowledge of vandas. When I opened the box, my eyes literally welled with tears from my extreme disappointment. This was someone in the orchid world I admire, who sent me seedlings that need to go into the ICU! I don't even want to put them in my seedling room, as I believe they may contaminate it!

I have already asked the vendor if I can ship them back, if not it looks like I'll be out $65 for 6 seedlings!!! I just hope he lets me send them back!

Update: I removed my image due to the quality. I will try to get some better pictures and repost tonight.

based on the photo and limited view, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong ! And its a good size ! I received some zygo seedlings early this week - from thumbnail size to 6 inches......and I was upset enough to decide never to purchase from that vendor again.

Seedlings have high mortality rate so you want to get the choice healthy ones. The one in the picture have fungi infestation on the crown and on the leaves....the situation of the roots is questionable....you will have spend so much time in healing these seedlings.
This is just unacceptable. You have the right to return them.

Sorry to hear about your seedlings. I have no complaints about the size, it's the condition of the leaves and roots. I guess my phone couldn't really capture how pitiful the the plant looks in person, so I'll remove the image.

The roots on some are very decimated, there is definitely fungus and bacteria on the leaves of all, but one seedling.

I have grown and bought many seedlings and have never received any in this condition from any other vendor.

I feel for the price, I should just be able to put them in a pot, not nurse them to the state I should have received them in.

I know how you feel.
Last autumn, I ordered near-blooming size orchids from a vendor that many praise and had the same reaction upon seeing tiny, rootless infected seedlings. I think one out of six will survive but it is at least four years from blooming, not a year as advertised. One had brown rot when it arrived and was gone the next morning. Very sad. I didn't contact them but should have. Hope this gets resolved for you.

The roots on this one aren't my major issue, it's the leaves.

I want to give the vendor a chance to do right before I put their name out there. I am a firm believer in second chances and realize that even the best businesses have "off moments" and I'm hoping that this is the case. I will update this thread once I hear back from the vendor.

I am sorry to hear about your seedlings, it is horrible that one died upon arrival! I hope the ones that remain pull through. I agree that it is very sad! And thanks for your nice thoughts on getting this issue resolved, my fingers are crossed!
