Record Holder?
Have we had a section/thread thingy in here to find out who holds the record for the Biggest Orchid Collection?
I know I'll not be winning that comp but how many do you Big Players have?

Actually I don't have any. Well that's a lie but I used to have over 450 but sold most last year. I was down to under 25 but now have rebounded to over 50. Paltry I know but I love them all. Of course I actually just have a disease experiment going on and can barely keep any alive but it's better than chasing women and drinking beer. Well......then again maybe I should rethink my life. .

OMG Matey, that's too drastic. Woa!
What a change of life style that must have been.
What do you mean about you having a disease in experiment?
Not understanding that bit!

I grow rescues. Most of my collection is from dust bins, dumpsters, throw aways, orchid show donation tables, and all sorts of clandestine nefarious thefts. All came to me with some sort of problems. Multiple problems usually. I nurse them back to health unless of course they die in the mean time. I enjoy the growing of plants. Flowering is a wonderful sideshow. What I really enjoy...besides a good glass of wine, some good bread with cheese, and a nice sunset over the ocean from my front porch....is when I can rid the plant of whatever disease it came with. That is my collection in a nut shell. And the best thing of all.....it's free.

Well I am of course thoroughly impressed Young Man. Such dedication.
What do you do with the ones that make it? Do you keep them, sell them, give them away or donate them somewhere?

They go to good homes, die in agony, get donated to unsuspecting novices, go to plant heaven, or get sold. Not too concerned as long as whom ever is dumb enough to get addicted to orchids wants them. use the experiences and knowledge gained with them to help others learn what not to do to kill their's off or what to do to get theirs to grow properly. Any time you are in the US please stop by and I'll show you around. Lots of good orchid nurseries, beaches, amusement parks, art galleries, museums, restaurants, night club, and sleazy bars.

I have about 70 orchids. That's all I have room for. Right now, if I buy a new orchid, I need to get rid of one of my older ones. I have several friends that have hundreds and I know one lady who has over 1000 paphs. alone. I wish I had more room.

OMG Tucker. That's pretty amazing. I don't think our Garden Centre even had 1,000 of the buggers. Wow! She must be a dedicated Lady.
Your 70 is worthy of mentioning too. I only have 25 but they occupy enough time. I'm proud of you with 70.

Oh how I would love to come back to the USA. That won't happen though Me Luv.
Firstly I don't have a Passport coz it just ran out. Hee heee.
Secondly I am too ill to make that sort of a journey.
I have Osteoporosis in the spine and Severe Emphysema with 25% lung capacity left. So I will be staying here Hunny Bunny.
What an invite tho. Thank you. I am especially miffed to miss that Sleazy Bar. Boo Hooo
I am absolutely fine rattling round here in my flat doing nothing. I can drive all day and drive 300 miles to see my sister. I am fine sitting in the car or on the puter or watching telly. It's when I stand up I can't breathe. I am fine and happy tho. No pity wanted here.
Me an me Orchids are doin just fine.
