I got 3 new plants in October as my last order before the snow flies. I'm just now getting around to taking pics of them. Pic 1 is Bllra. Marfitch 'Howard's Dream' from Orchids of Los Osos. Pic 2 is Sederia japonica also from Orchids of Los Osos. Pic 3 is P. Kenneth Schubert 'Purple Martin' from Big Leaf Orchids. It's supposed to have a blue violet flower. Pic 4 shows it's brand new baby leaf peeking out. Pic 5 is P. Bright Peacock 'Maple Bridge' a freebie from Big Leaf Orchids. It's a harlequin phal.

Quiltergal,
Just in case you decide to do some hybridizing with it, the Phal. Kenneth Schubert is actually Dtps Kenneth Schubert, a primary cross of Doritis pulcherrima and Phal
violacea (or what ever they are calling these two today).
Raining here today but glad to get it. Hope weather better there.

I thought all Dtps were now classified as Phal?? Who can keep up with all the changes in classification going on? Thanks though. I did know it was Dtps, once upon a time.
It was a splendid bright sunny day here. Yesterday was rainy, but like you, I'm not complaining. We need it bad.
I know what you mean! It seems like they change the names about every other day. I guess it provides job security for those in the taxonomy field (gee,I hope that's not your field)! I sometimes wonder if a guy back in the Kansas City area years ago wasn't right. He could never remember the names so he just named all his orchids after whatever they reminded him of. For example, B. digbyana (which has been reclassified) reminded him of Little Orphan Annie (the frilly lip reminded him of her hair) so he just labeled the plant "Little Orphan Annie".
Yes, the rain is quite precious here. Here at the southern end of the San Joaquin valley, we average less than 6" per year. I think that if a bird spits when flying over town, the weather man measures it!
I notice that nearly everyone ends their messages in a saying or quote. Is that the accepted proceedure here on the OB?
Jerry
I usually only include a quote if I'm responding to something several posts back in the thread. That way the person I'm answering knows I'm talking to them and everyone else doesn't think I'm nuts.
