Default Silva Orchid Festival - Here is what I bought

Despite the drenching rain, I went to Silva Orchid's festival this morning in Neptune Township NJ. Lots of nice things to be had from some top-notch vendors. The rain made parking in the field behind Silva's a little treacherous, so I left earlier than I had planned to make sure I could get out after I saw a tow truck get stuck in the mud! The good news is that due to the weather it was not crowded which made for a pleasant shopping experience as the vendors had lots of time to talk to each potential customer.

Sarchochilus hartmanii (mounted)
Gastrochilus japonicus
Coelgyne ochracea
Aeringis citrata
Cymbidium ensifolium 'Shi Chang Hong"

Only the Ctm is in bloom and it is fragrant!

Carrie,
I was going to attend today and there are some small bridges I would have to go over near my house that flood all the time. We are under a flood watch and I was afraid I wouldn't get home in time for my children's bus stops. I may have to wait until Sunday now. I hope there are still some of the plants I want around then...fingers crossed.

I would have gone down there if I had a ride. lol
You braved the rain and brought home some new guys!

Last time I was there was two or three years ago. I really like all the interesting masdies and colorful cattleyas. and lots of other little miniature orchids I've never heard of. and lots of different varieties of paph seedlings.

That's when I got my Dendrobium Oriental Fantasy "Smile" from Waldor orchids in full glorious bloom at only $27! I couldn't believe it!!!

I went today and took my son with me. Still a lot of detours for me since bridges near me are still flooded out. They should recede tonight.

I took cash and spent almost all of it

It was so much fun! It was the first time I was at an orchid show or festival. It was so much fun to walk around and look at the plants. I bought some beautiful plants from some really nice vendors. My son got an air plant. I saw an Iwan. Applebloosom "Fantastic" that I really wanted. The price was high and the flowers on all three plants they had were convered in brown and clear spots. When I asked they said it was Botrytis. For a $35 plant I decided to pass. I was bummed since I have really wanted one. I have a noid one from the supermarket and have really wanted another. Oh well...

I almost forgot to mention that I purchased my first Phrag. from Piping Rock . I am going to order SH supplies from Ray and try growing it that way.

Loved it and met some really great people.

It must have been a great day for shopping since the weather was so good. Well, at least up here in the city. I hope it was just about as nice down in Naptune.

By the way, is Apple Blossom 'Fantastic' golden yellow variety??
I would love one too! I haven't seen one in person (only the common pink ones) but I found one online vendor who has it for the same price.
Now that I have a space on my window sill for one catt, I'm thinking that yellow Apple Blossom or Cnhamiana Azure Sky (I had one but tossed after a long fight against scales that got worse and worse)
I have some nice yellow plants already but I just love yellow.
Then I love the blue (lavender) but I only have one dendrobium in that color. so I'm leaning toward restocking Azure Sky. maybe both? lol

What kind of phrag did you get? I have one, my first one, bought earlier in the spring. It is supposed to be a good grower but it's been very slow. I might switch to S/H as well.
