Who else collects fragrant orchids?
I love to collect fragrant plants: herbs, flowers, citrus, and spices. All but three of my orchids have been purchased because they are promised to be fragrant (as well as having flowers I like). I tend to lose interest and find new homes for those whose flowers lack the anticipated fragrance. Anyone else doing this?

I mostly collect cattleyas and I definitely prefer the ones that are fragrant. I also have some encyclias that I bought for their fragrance alone. I live in South Florida and we have some wonderful fragrant plants like night blooming jasmine around here.

Nearly every phal and other orchid I own is fragrant. Those that are not are either visually amazing in flower or out of bloom or both. Fragrance is just part of the amazing orchid experience but for me it's very important. Thank god neos are fragrant!!!

I don't go for fragrant orchids only, but a nice fragrance can definitely convince me that "I must have this!"

I really like a fragrant orchid but its the flower and culture that I look for. I do collect fragrant Tillandsias there are only about twelve fragrant one's and I got about 10 of them, have never been able to find the other two.

Fragrance is REQUIRED. I only have a couple of plants that aren't.
I never had any interest in orchids until I realized they could be fragrant. Then all hell broke loose.

I discovered four, not three, non-fragrant orchids in my collection: psychopsis, soph cernua, phalaenopsis equestris, and ascocentrum pumilum. Hmm. The other sixty should be fragrant.

I always consider it a great added bonus if they have fragrance. It would certainly tip the scale in it's favour if I had to choose between two otherwise equally desirable plants

I'm with those that say fragrance is a great bonus but I love others as well. I love to walk in my greenhouse when stuff is in flower and fragrant.

Maybe try checking the Phalaenopsis equestris at a different time of day? I've heard that those often tend to be fragrant too.
