MY GARDEN GOT BEAT ALITTLE AND ALOT OF CLEANUP TO DO.
I WAS JUST WONDERING NOW THAT IM GETTING COMFORTABLE AT POSTING THREADS AND FINDING MY WAY AROUND HOW I FIND OTHER THREADS AGAIN ONCE I START CONVERSING. IS THERE AN EASY WAY TO GET BACK TO A PARTICULAR CONVERSATION THAT SOMEONE ELSE STARTED?

Hi Joe,
Good tohear you didn't get 'hit' to badly. We are going to get the same storm tomorrow.
I think you are asking about how to follow a particular conversation or "thread". At the top of the page, just above the first message on that page is an Icon called "Thread Tools". Click on the down arrow and then on 'subscribe to thread'. You will then get an e-mail message any time someone posts to that thread.
I've learned this the hard way as I missed some posts and ended up looking like the proverbial fool........something I'm very good at. LOL
Hope this helps,

JamminJoe, I just saw your other thread about Shomburgkias. And now I see the answer to my question, you're in Florida too.

Like Bird Song Farm feels, I too feel the forum design here is a little confusing (and I'm still hoping that I'm just a slow learner because I'm still missing a lot of latest topics even with 'todays posts icon'). I had requested that perhaps to keep events/threads other members post more current without searching for the latest, to keep a 'latest topics' (threads, not posts) all grouped in one section, in a window by its own. I believe it would keep more of a 'live time' feel for members who may want to expound or add advice to these threads; they seem to get a bit more lost with this format but this forum has more information on orchids than any other forum out there. Nobody is paying me to say this , it's true.

Me again Joe,
Something I also had trouble with and finally caught on to is when you scroll down a page of posts and come to the last one on the page you figure "that's it"..........Ah Ha!!, not so, if you look to the right at the bottom of the page you might actually be on page 1 of 2, 3, 4 or more pages........again, until I found/figured this out, I missed posts and information that I should have been aware of.
Of course, it probably doesn't help that this is my first Forum/Board I've used but I'll be darned if I'll let a machine/program get the best of me!! LOL
Al

LOL...Al, you've done pretty well here

Joe, follow Al's advice for staying aware of new entries to a specific thread.

As for knowing when a totally new topic has been posted, click on the Home Page (link is in the left-hand column) and along the right side of that page, you'll see all the newest topics which have been posted.

If anybody has more questions, let me know and we'll try to get it figured out. We don't want anybody to have a hard time getting around the neighborhood
