Default OPEN DISCUSSION FOR ANYONE

JAMMIN JOE HERE
I have been introducing myself to OB members for about a week now and have to admit there are some really special members that have been very kind. I made sure to post some photos of my yard so folks know im liget as far as my interest in all these topics.
Thank you to Suzanne, Dorothy and Marty and Dave and to all others who chimed in and said hello to my amatuer postings. As i said earlier Im very poor in computer skills and things that other folks probably assume everyone on the computer knows by now.
For instance Im not sure how often or when you start a new thread. What im getting at is I enjoy continuing discussions with folks from all around. I also honestly dont know if its ok to ask where someone is from. Is this acceptable? Also to continue a long running discussion which um part of the board is the best place to contact an individual like to say Hey suzzane whats up?
What part of the world are you in? How many orchids do you have? Where and How do i find your Photos? Is sending your email acceptable?
Again i am enjoying this site very much but would like to find out more about differant areas, whats going on and such but dont know if this is ok.
any help anyone
sincerely JamminJoe

Joe, my first suggestion is to search the board and see what has already been posted. I like your enthusiasm, but you can post most than one image in a post We all love photos and we love the photos you have posted - keep them coming It's very obvious to me that you have great gardening skills and I (for one) would love to see more of your successes.

HEY ROSS
Thanks for responding and the nice comments.
Right now my garden is getting blown around real good with tropical winds and rains. Its always a big job to clean up after these fronts go through but its part of the garden experience. What part of the country are you from?

Hi Joe

You can start a thread anytime you want to

We used to have "Conversation Starters" but they seem to fallen by the wayside. Anytime you feel like starting one up again, just go into our Orchid Lounge and post a general question that calls for answers. As you've already seen, we all love to talk about our favorite obsession...orchids!

If you want to contact somebody personally, use our PM (private message) system. Just click on a member's name and you'll get the option to send them a PM. Click there and thne just type in your message and hit Submit.

In general, I don't think it's a good idea to post personal information or email addresses on a public forum. Unfortunately, there are people who can and would use that information to create a nuisance for you...although our friends here on OB would never think of doing such a thing

Many of our members have their location listed in their profile, which will show up in the upper right-hand corner of your posts, alongside the little camera and the flag
It's fine to ask somebody where they are located...it would be up to them to decide if they didn't want to give out that information for some reason.

You're now hanging out with some great folks from all around the world and our great country! Welcome

To Suzanne
Thanks for responding. Your little note makes me have so many questions.
1. Where do i find the Pm?
2. Is ob what they call a chat room?
3. would this be a thread that we are in now?
4. would this thread be better in the orchid lounge or beginners
5. if i find somebody i can ask these beginners questions to how do i just say (hey suzanne are you there?)
I realize there are bozos out there but i suppose i just trusted that orchid people generally dont fit that discription.
ive been a musician in cocoa beach for thirty years. everyone knows me here. its how i got my name Jammin joe its a stage name, very lucrative for this family man
anyway i hope im not being pushy. i just actually discovered that i like this orchid world.
thanks again

Okay...

1. you can just click on anybody's name and you'll get a drop-down list. On that lilst is an option to send the person a PM. Click on my name at the top of this reply to try it out.

2. OB is just stand for Orchidboard when I'm feeling too lazy to type out the whole thing We do have a great chat room and a number of folks meet in there each night, usualy starting around 8pm EST. Stop in sometime. You can get there by clicking on CHAT in the left hand column of the page.

3. Yes, this is a thread... and 4. I will move it in it's entirety to the Orchid Lounge area.

%. You can start a thread specifying a certain member but with all the great folks we have here at "OB", that would be limiting your potential responses. In my opinion, if you feel you'd rather ask a specific person a specific question (or even just say hello), it's better to use the PM option.

and finally...you are absolutely right! Orchid people do not fit the bozo description. I've met some of my best friends, in person and here at OB, because of a shared love of orchids. The problem with personal info on the internet is that not everybody that stops in to an online forum is really interested in the topic we love so much. It's an unfortunate state of affairs but it is what it is

So...what kind of music do you play? What instruments?
We'd love to hear more

Default wow suzanne

I JUST LOST A WHOLE RESPONSE TO YOUR LAST I THINK CAUSE I WAS NO LONGER IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
ILL TRY AGAIN.
OLDIES. I STOPPED LISTENING TO MUSIC WHEN JOHN DENVER WAS AT THE TOP. WHEN I JOINED THE MILITARY AND GOT OUT SEVEN YEARS LATER MUSIC HAD CHANGED TO DISCO AND THE PEACE MOVEMENT WAS DEAD. I LIKED BEATLES FIFTIES SIXTIES BUT SOFT STYLE. SO I TOOK UP ACOUSTIC GUITAR WITH THE AIM OF MAKING SOME MONEY. THE GOOD PLAYERS HAD ALL THE HOT PLACES SEWN UP SO I VEERED TOWARDS OLD COUNTRY FOR THE VFW TYPE GIGS. ALSO I LIKE OLD CALYPSO AND UNDER THE BOARDWALK TYPE STUFF. I ESTABLISHED MY SOLO ACT PRETTY GOOD AND FOUND MYSELF WITH A SEVEN YEAR OLD SON TAKING PIANO LESSONS. AT ELEVEN HE WENT PRO WITH ME AND BY ELEVEN AND A HALF STOLE MY SHOW.
BUT I LOVED BEING WITH HIM AND WE OWNED THIS COUNTY AS A FATHER SON DUO. HE IS NOW IN COLLEGE AT FLORIDA STATE IN THE METORLOGY PROGRAM AND IN A FOUR PIECE BAND. I AM OVER THE PARTYING AND JUST WANT TO RELAX WITH MY GROWING ORCHID HOBBY. I CANCELLED ALL MY GIGS AND SOLD MY STUFF. ONCE IN AWHILE WHEN ALL THE CHORES ARE DONE I POUR A SCOTCH, GO OUT IN MY GARDEN ON A SWING WITH GUITAR AND SING INSPIRATIONAL SPIRITUAL STUFF WITH GOD, LOOK AT MY ORCHIDS AND ALL IS WELL IN THE UNIVERSE.
THANKS FOR LETTING ME GET THAT OFF MY CHEST.
I THINK I SENT YOU A PM BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO CHECK MINE
