Default Spring Orchid Trading?!

Hiya there everyone here at the OB! The year of 2012 has come and went, and before we know it Spring will be here for many of us in the states.

I was curious if anyone would be interested in doing some spring orchid trading? For those of us that have an extended collection or those of us who divide our plants every spring - I figured it might be nice to have a thread where everyone can post up what they have to offer and start trading from there?! This is a great way for us hobbyists to expand our collections!

It would be awesome if we could have a whole forum section for trading and swapping orchids. -cough- Marty -cough- mods -cough-

What do you all think?

I second this motion! I know we have a commercial area, but trading orchids (no money involved) seems less formal and different from the system we have set up already.

I think (though I may be wrong) that it's intended that the classified section can be used for that. There is a category on each classified add and one of those is 'Trade'. I've not really used the classified section myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to use that, but I think that's the intention of it.

I'd noticed the 'trade' subforum also, though I've never used it.
Re the original question, I think it's a great idea, especially as it may open doors for people to get plants largely unavailable commercially. It could be good for those of us impacted by the tight economy also- get some new plants for little financial outlay, just the 'loss' of something that was extra or unwanted anyhow.
One thing I wonder- is there a way to get 'swap points', or credit for trades? I'm not sure how such a system could be set up, but it would be a way for people to trade away things to others who don't have something they want/ get something form someone who doesn't want what they've got.
I've arranged (off the forum) to engage in a trade with someone when the weather warms in the rest of the country. Looking forward to it!

Thank you very much for the contribution of these great ideas! I too have been trading with many members here on the OB (sending another package out tomorrow!). But i'd love to see a separate section of the board where users can start threads and freely trade with other OB users. As you stated - times are hard financially for many of us addicts- so trading divisions and such is a great way to keep the hobby going!
